Perfection, not unlike my favorite - the pearl. (It's said that"pearls are for tears", which really, when you think about it, makes such sense... lol) These short poems can be marvelous, as yours shows! Best of luck in the contest!

I've considered it, and I think it's a mean thing to do so we can have a pretty bauble. Nevertheless, your poem provides a great allegory (or is that analogy)? If only we could adopt that advice more often, how much happier would we be? Still, easier said than done, I think.
An excellent submission for the contest, best of luck with it.

This is a good entry for the contest. Why did you say the ouster is inflamed? Maybe you know something I do not. Maybe a bite? Because I do not understand the reference. If you are talking about a particular oyster it could make sense that this oyster could be sick and inflamed. It is well written and has rhyming. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

The oyster is inflamed by an irritant grain of sand inside its shell, around which it secretes layer upon layer of nacre to form a pearl.

Ok thanks. Everyone does not know that. Maybe a bite?

Note not bite. Sorry. Damn iphone

A-h-h-hhhhh ... if only we human beings could be more like the persevering, pained, pearl-wrapping oyster, 'ey, Tony?
Alas, we're not-- we're only human.
