A nice poem. My grandmother is in a similar situation...most of her friends have passed on and not much family lives nearby. Despite it's down subject matter, it is a good poem. Well done.

Yes, it is a hard topic but one to ponder on, I think. Thank you for your review and comments. :-)

There have been a great deal of poems flying around today in which a ticking clock, or time itself, has been featured, and that includes my own. Suffice it to say that many seem to be dealing with their own mortality these days, or that of others very close to their hearts.
This poetic proclamation portraying perplexities in splendid free verse form brought on by neglect, old age, and quite possibly the Cruel crux of Alzheimer's Disease, was very touching.
Well done, Karen.

This is a very sad vignette of a life that is surrounded by disappointment and loss. The imagery paints a very realistic view of the old woman whose loss is profound and for whom time is not a friend. The rhythm of the lines moves the story line along nicely. Not all poems are uplifting, this one included, but it is well written.

Hi Boxergirl,
a subject that I think will affect so many of us. I dread the day my mum is placed in a nursing home. I know they all do a good job but it doesn't seem right.
Great poem.

Thank you, Brenda. Yes, no one wants to go to a nursing home, but sometimes there are no options. My hope is that we offer better care for their emotional needs as well as the physical ones.

Hello, Karen,
You wrote about one of my greater fears, ending up in a rest home. How kind of you to visit rest homes and chat with the elder residents. Your poem is very well written and heartfelt. Good job!

Hi Gypsy,
Thanks for your review. It is a hard topic but I say, if we have to go there, let's just keep being our crazy wild selves and make the most of it. :-)
