Hi Dean. Teen suicide is so prevalent these days, especially with the social stresses that seem more prominent than in the old days. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but from the news it seems so. This is a well written, short piece, but no less important. Each word "counts", giving excellent descriptions, and explains the poem/vignette with clarity. Best, Marilyn

Yes, it's becoming an epidemic, Marilyn. Social networking sites like Facebook and Snap Chat enable bullies to pick on another friend, classmate or someone they simply feel is "weird", or "strange", or different, twenty-four-hours a day, seven days a week. They are no longer relegated to school hours or by running into them out and about.

I am very happy you enjoyed this tale. It is a bit different from the others in that it has a morale message. Hopefully, that didn't make it any less frightening.

No--if anything it's more frightening, because it's real and true. Parents have to be vigilant in their children's change in attitude or behavior. I'm grateful mine are all grown up (I think!).

This is a creative write. I think this all works so well together. Your writing didn't need the music though. Your story easily does the work. Terrific writing. I love how you format your poem and stress certain words like "waiting". Great job.

Thank you, Michael, I appreciate your comments and opinions.

The musical intro is intended to create the feel for the stories in this series like one of those old radio Mystery programs that used to be so popular on radio. It's meant to be listened to prior to reading. That's the idea anyhow.

I'm happy you enjoyed the story as a whole. Again, thanks for reading my work. :} ~Dean

No one sings along- perfect closing. And highly relatable- everyone has a break- up song to fuel teen aged angst. Mine was a Floyd's "One of My Turns". Excellent flash fiction.

Thank you, Ed. I very much appreciate it. My song was also a Pink Floyd tune, "Wish You Were Here"

    Thanks again, Ed. ~Dean
