This is really very good. Well written and a good pantoum. Not always easy when it is a challenge but you have done so well. You chose Sappho which is interesting. Being a Lesbian in both senses of the word, I don't think she will join you on your ship. A really very good job. It's a 6 but I have none left. I wish I had. Regards Dorothy

Many thanks, Dorothy. I appreciate you taking the time to review, your very kind comments and your generous stars! You are right, of course, about Sappho. I was seeking the lost beauty of her poems though, a hunt that she might have been willing to share, sexuality apart!

This is a beautiful pantoum. The artwork suits it perfectly. I love the structure and repetition in the pantoum and you have certainly done it justice with this one. The rhythm is perfect, and I appreciated it even more when I read your author's notes. Excellent! Sandra

This is a thought-provoking poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. The writer tells the reader that there is so much lost literature from the ancient world. The great fire of the library of Alexandria comes to mind. I often wonder about what was lost. The Ancient Greeks knew that the world was round, but people in the Middle Ages still thought that it was flat. This is just one example.

Well done Pantoum.
To date I haven't read any of Sappho's work if I remember well. Because of this poem I will soon research this work to read wht ever I find.

Written in quatrains with perfect abab rhymes

This is a very well written Pantoum. The picture and presentation fits the poem perfectly. Every repeating line expertly penned. I don't know much about Greek mythology but I see you are well schooled in it.
Well done, Nancy

A story of a journey to find the island of Lesbos..and we may wonder what type of island it will be. The thougths that went through the journey with the unkind Eros could hindered the smooth journey.
If only there was sight of Lesbos or Sappho (taking the readers back 600 years ago as in a fantasy) and giving us the feeling of a paradise on earth, the story could have ended beautifully.
And will Sappho ever join this silent silvery ship? Will Lesbos showed her beautiful mystical island to us at all?Time to write a sequel perhaps, smiles?
Good write and a well penned a pantoum.
Cheerio, Ritchie. :))

tfawcus: I have never written a pantoum, a lack of patience, probably. But, I know that what you have written here does rhyme nicely and the rhythm like being aboard a ship in rough seas. It is a hearty, song of the seas which reminds me of that picture of Meryl Streep in the "Lieutenant's Woman", watching for his ship at the end of a jetty (correct word?). Great writing! livelylinda
