how vivid and beautiful.
You've told a whole story in just a few beautifully chosen words. I can feel the silken quality of the moon. The last line is perfect.

What an extraordinary image--creative spin on a regular monthly miracle! I love the idea of night singing a lullaby--here in Missouri that song would be tree toads! thanks again! Caroline

Good combination of words and picture. The cadence is gentle, making it easy to read. I liked the imagery created by the line:
Goes on melting in the sky

LOVE it! I work second shift at a local hospital and pull into my home driveway at around midnight AND am ever in awe of the moon, sky and general temperature etc. of the night as I exit my vehicle. This poem takes me "there" on my night off tonight!!! Well done.

This seems to me like a good start for a wish to the stars.
Nothing wrong with praising the moon, sun or stars, because that's what the ancient people did and in a lot of areas they were a lot smarter than us.

Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful haiku. Even without the picture I can see the moon melting each day in the sky is it wanes. The imagery which is so great doesn't need the picture but the picture does help. Judy to read and very well penned for a haiku. You have a good one in God bless.

firdousy--How clever to make this a 5-7-5 genre in order
to keep the rhymes (sky/lullaby) and human attribute for
waning of this celestial sphere. The metaphor of nocturnal
crooning is quite poetic. Much imagery provided by such a
paucity of words. Selection of artwork is good as well.

In but seventeen syllables
you have painted this beautiful
mural of the different phases
of the moon from full, to shrinking
half and quarter size under which
the hypnotic spell of love is
cast
Well done

I enjoyed the simplicity of your poem. It's very difficult to convey a message or paint a picture with so few words but you have succeeded. Nicely done!

Crickets begin to chirp in the soft moonlight light. The owl soon takes flight in the hollowing of the night. The lighting bugs shine around.
