Five stars tonight for a fable as good as any of Aesop's. Your friend Virge, while making the ridiculous assumption that he knew the minds of chickens, managed to concoct a story with a moral, proving himself just a tiny bit smarter than a chicken. You have written about it quite ably, and I am impressed.

I love the dialog between the Rabbit and Virge. I like the lesson of the story and the way the old man is teaching the kid. I love the way you started the chapter: "Chickens are really dumb." We live in the country and have half a dozen hens so I can identify with the care of the chickens. It was fun reading this story.
