There could have been a third cuppa of coffee but this bunch of home stay guest had greedily gulped down all the free coffee. LOL.
Everyone is hoping to find someone nice to talk to and to spend time especially those looking for more.
With so many of them in the room, there might be a need to open all the windows and take a breath of fresh air outside. Oh yes, leave another pot of coffee away from the hungry guest.
Good write and quite a hoot too.
Ritchie.

love the internal rhyme and humor in kissed and dismissed
good internal rhyme and alliteration in bustled-hustled-harried
staring balefully beside - excellent assonance and alliteration
I'm laughing my head off at the mateless dateless mismatched socks :-)
love the description of them
and the witty observation about Noah has me laughing out loud - you are one funny poet :-) Brooke

Lol, I like the style in which you write. It is lively and humorous and enjoyable to read. I'm sure my washing machine eats socks as the same pair that goes in never comes back out.

OMG laughter again and this is the absolute cat's meow. My daughter and I were just discussing where the socks go. Like down the drain oir where. This could't come at a better time. She will absloutely howl tonight. It was great

This poem made my day! I read it while sipping MY second cup of coffee. It's fun to share a few moments with this speaker: a wife, mother, and housewife. It's amusing that she can compare these 8 mismatched socks to "last night's unwanted dinner guests." She can reflect on their size, color, vintage, and social life. There is an undertone of sorrow we discern only at the end when we discover what she herself is missing. Subtle use of rhyme throughout. Just a fun read! RodG

The little things in married life take on new meaning over a cup of coffee enjoyed in the embrace of the morning light. Left alone, the importance of being loved yet not taken for granted imposes thoughts, some welcome to a housewife beset with maternal duties (the wash) and others portraying images of freedom from drudgery. Correct me if I have run aground on these idioms of reality VS. fantasy. A good piece, well constructed in a vertical fashion meant to direct one's eye ever downward to 'the perfect mate'... a play on words or a subliminal meaning? We'll never know will we?

Thank you for a witty and philosophical perspective on the relative importance of what only appears to be apparently trivial in every day life, and on the connections to be made in the temporary peace of a second cup in a harried day!

thx Chandra - please note that if you give a "four" you are meant to also suggest what needs improvement - please see review guidelines (below) - otherwise, please do re-rate, ok? :)Sharyn
From the site FAQ page-
The site offers a six star scale for ranking work. Here's a guideline:
Six Stars (Exceptional: Simply Outstanding)
Five Stars (Excellent: Enjoyable and no revisions needed)
Four Stars (Good: Adjustments needed) - For anything this rating or below, PLEASE provide feedback so that your rating makes sense and gives me understanding. :)
Three Stars (Below average)
Two Stars (Below Average: Needs lots of work)
One Star (Poor: Major revision required)
Please do not rate at a level that indicates you feel it needs revision or adjustments without sharing what those are; it is important for the author to know the reasoning behind the rating or it can be confusing. :)
Thank you for stopping by and we hope these reviewing guidelines help those who are new understand how reviewing/rating works. For specifics on how to review the various different forms of writing (poems vs. short works, etc), see the FAQs part of the site under the 'INFO' tab. There is a lot of helpful information.
