Even in today's ultra technical world, God still answers prayers. This is very well written with good imagery and descriptive scheme. Good luck in your contest.

In 1968, the doctors said he had no chance, but God didn't give up on him and neither did I. He's 40 years old and I am thankful for every day of his life. Some wonder how I can deal with a handicapped son every day...I find it a blessing. Thanks for the review.

You're welcome, Carol. I've lived with a handicap all my life. It takes a little determination and intestinal fortitude. Charlie

This is such a relieve when one is so frightened the the baby will die and then after prayer and answering cry. We don't always get a yes to our prayers but often we do.
THis is a excellent haiku.

I was one of the lucky ones...and I certainly know it! The doctors had given up...but God had other plans. Thanks for the review.

Carol,
Thanks for the "prayers and good thoughts" sometimes I feel like I am in hell and I have to remind myself that it's not what happens in life that is important but how we handle what happens because stuff happens to us all.
Thanks for the shoulder.
Heidi

Yes, I was extremely lucky when I heard his cry after the surgery...The doctors had given up..Every day I thank God for not doing the same.
