That is a lovely tribute to a lovely, brave lady, Terry. I remember reading Sarah's final post and how couragous she was writing it down and sharing it with us. She did indeed have an amazing life, spoilt only by that second husband who was obviously born without any feelings of emotions. That Sarah put him behind her, shows her strength of character. He didn't deserve those years she shared with him. I'm sorry she has now passed, and I'm sorry that you'll never get another Jack Daniels evening with her, but you will always have that special memory every time you pour yourself a glass. I enjoyed learning more about Sarah, thank you for sharing it with us. Warmest hugs, Sandra xx

Hi Terry,
I'm terribly sorry to hear about Sarah passing, but I knew it was coming. She was a very sweet and energetic lady. She was humble and easy to talk to. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet her in person.
I'm sorry I didn't know about the cards or I would have sent her one as well. I'm sure it meant a lot to her to get them from her friends here.
Thanks for updating us,
Rhonda

Rhonda, Sarah so enjoyed getting to meet you and Ann. As you know it's a rare treat to meet someone on FS face to face. Thank you for the extra star for Sarah. Terry.
-
I wish I had spent more time with her. She was such a fun and caring person. I know this has to be a hard time for you!
-
Sadly, in a community of older people, it happens too often.
-
I?m sure it does. I imagine it makes it harder to get close to people.
-
Rhonda, that's an interesting observation. It actually is easier, because we are all in the same boat.

Good point!

This is a beautiful and heartfelt tribute, Terry, to your dear friend! You describe Sarah's life and character in such loving and admiring terms and I've no doubt her friendship with you would have fortified and delighted her during those latter two years. Perhaps two small suggestions: I (met) Sarah in the summer...; She allowed as to how she did? But nothing detracts from such a commendable, informative write. Well done! Take care Debbie

Terry, this is so beautifully written, and what a beautiful tribute to Sarah.
I'm saddened to hear about the news, and I know Sarah passed knowing she made true friends and, most importantly, the friend in you.
Keep her candle burning, Terry.
My condolences and prayers. Best, JohnC

John, thank you for the kind words and wonderful review. The extra star is for Sarah. I did laugh at your new picture! Terry.
-
Thanks, Terry I'm glad he made you laugh. I named him Edgar (not as in Poe) rather Bergen, the Ventriloquist. Lol.

Very cool!

What a beautiful tribute this is to an beautiful soul and a just-plain remarkable woman. You were lucky to have known her in such a special way. She was exceptional in every way, it sounds like.
Although it doesn't seem like her style, I wonder if she could have been responsible for your Secret Sender t-shirt?
Sending you love today, as she joins Chloe now for Happy Hour.
xoxo

Rachelle, thank you for the review. Sarah was a suspect in the t-shirt question, but I didn't think so. Turns out it was a friend on wife's, who I haven't seen in a long while. Terry.
-
Sarah would have been more direct and just handed it to you during your Jack Daniels parties, it seems.
I'm glad the mystery has been solved!!
-
That and the fact she knew I needed a larger size...LOL. She liked to laugh.
-
That is so evident in her picture. She looks "open" to all the good things life offers. I'm so glad you were a friend she could enjoy, and I love the story of how that came to be. I'm sure you miss her very much, because she's obviously vivid and full of life.

Terry this is a wonderful story. I know her son and other family members will cherish forever. I wish I'd know Sarah better. I remember when Debi wrote her birthday poem; It is good that you introduced her to this site. She seems like the kind of person who knew how to live life to the fullest. It is good to know more. Since I've lived in Tennessee for the last 36 years it seems we have that in common. I'm sorry your friend died but when someone lives such an amazing life we can't help but feel that everything went the way it was meant to.

Comment from Wayne Fowler
Very nice tribute. And very well written.
Despite trials and tribulations, it sounds as if Sarah was a person who'd learned the art of coping and adjusting.
Best wishes.

Good morning, Terry,
How very moved I am by your posting of Sarah's life and the beautiful friendship you shared with her. I am so very sorry for your loss.
Your tribute speaks of her strength and positivity - traits that you possess and share as well.
Admittedly, Terry, I, too, believe that "FanStory has a few folks who think writing on this site is about the purity of and pursuit of better writing." That is the site's intent and purpose; however, the fostering of friendships along the way is one of the many special attributes of the site as well.
How very fortunate we all are to have experienced a glimpse of the friendship you shared with Sarah...
I thank you for bringing Sarah's writings to my attention, but more importantly, I thank you for inviting me to share in understanding the grace and courage of this very special lady. I will long remember her...
I surely hope that when my time comes, my own "journey" will be traveled with as much grace and courage...
Much appreciation, Terry,
diane

Oh, to be as lucky as you and have a dear friend to walk the path of life daily, who is/was there to steer around thorny brambles, and to have a collective of others who are warmed by the love they share with each other.
