This is a heartbreaking poem, my friend. My comfort in reading this is the faith of the parents. No telling where he is but God knows. We have a son that's not doing well, but he's here with us instead of the streets. I have to continue to give him to the Lord as he is unrecognizable on most days. It's hard when they are adults and make poor choices day after day. I hope for them they receive closure and continued peace. I will be praying for them. Sending you my best today as always.

Thank you so much, Sally, for your very kind review and thoughts which are greatly appreciated. I am so sorry to hear about your son but reassured to learn that he's there with you and in the best possible care. In this case, James is still missing and, sadly, his father believes that he's taken his own life. I don't think he would be managing at all without the support he has from his faith. The not knowing is arguably worse than some sort of closure. Take care, Debbie x (I always look at your lovely profile picture together and think what a beautiful, happy couple you look:))

Incredibly sad post Debbie. It affected me almost instantly. It must happen quite often in some households. I am of a family of 14 and I know of the whereabouts of them all. And my 4 children visit every Sat. The poem is devastatingly good.

Unless one has actually been depressed how come one does what they've done. One would think they would consult, but depression can make one feel worthless and a burden to those around them, perhaps that's the reason, but it is irrational, a beautifully written ballad poem, Debbie, blessings Roy

Thank you so much, Roy, for your kind review! I always enjoy reading your thoughts which are much appreciated. Sadly he's still missing and his father believes he's taken his own life. An horrendous situation for any parent. Bless you for this, Debbie

Well done

This sad poem is written excellently as narrative shows the sadness of the family for their departed son. The "you" makes it more personal. I had a former student who later disappeared. He'd been cheerful, popular, talented. We always wondered.

I will pray for this family. I can't even begin to imagine how horrible the not knowing is. There is still hope answers will be found. Thank you for sharing this very well written poem with us.

Hi Debi, a poem of heartbreak, and still, a person's faith brings comfort during their time of strife. Your poem reads and flows well and has silky rhyming within. Of special note:
You prayed with hope raised to the sky
That love would guide him through.
(D, at times like the above, what else can a person do. Luckily, they turned to prayer and their faith.)
Well chosen photo. Heartfelt writing. This is definitely a parent's nightmare. Keep the blue waters flowing. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

Debbie, you turned out this poem of magnificent cadence and rhyme, to near perfection.
I felt like I was part of the community that dealt with this tragedy.
To this day I'm assuming it is still not solved?
Nicely done, my dear!

Thank you so much, John, for this exceptional review and kind thoughts, all greatly appreciated! Yes, he's still missing and his father believes he's taken his own life. A lovely young man with his life in front of him. The not knowing is the worst part of all I think. Take care and keep on cooking! Debbie x

I agree, not knowing has got to be the hardest. I feel for the family.
I haven?t forgotten the Lasagna International follow up. I?ve been busy with work.
Soon?

I like the opening. He left without leaving any message.
This will lead readers to continue to find out more.
I like this one: " But months would pass, you lost that hope And sensed he was at peace."
This shows the sadness of the parents, yet let's read on. Perhaps there will be a happy ending.
Unfortunately it ends as a mystery.
Thanks for sharing such a story. Your poem is well written. It flows well.

Thank you so much for this kind review and for giving my verse such thought. This is all deeply appreciated. Sadly, there's no happy ending. His father actually believes he's taken his own life. Perhaps it's his protection. It's a horrible situation - you'd almost rather know the worst scenario than be left in this agony. Take care Debbie x

This poem carries a significant impact, delving into a profound and thought-provoking theme that demands further contemplation.
Discussing mental health and recognizing early signs is crucial.
This powerful poem leads us on an introspective journey, delving into the inscrutable realm of humans, where the ephemeral nature of life is explored and pondered upon.
This exceptional and thought-provoking poem tackles a meaningful and relevant issue.
Wishing all the best.

Wowie zowie, did you ever but ever bring every facet of this to light. It was so well done and clear that I honestly didn't NEED the Author's Notes. (You were smart to include them "just in case, but I swear that I got it on the first read-through.)
I have to bookcase this one because it's masterfully written...and I'd say that even if I didn't love you with all my heart. I feel like this is OTM quality, and I will be the first voter at the polls on its behalf.
I dub this your best work yet. You just keep getting better and better and better.

Dear Rachelle, I think I've got 'Impostor Syndrome' because you write such lovely things and I honestly don't believe I deserve them. But thank you so much, anyway, for this exceptional review which I deeply treasure. xoxoxo
