This is a great and well expressed celebration of being free with no finger pointed at country or politics etc for failing to provide that privilege of choice and freedom. I wondered if you might like to look at 'chose' in your verse as you might have wanted to put 'choose.' Thanks for sharing and good luck! Debbie

This a very well-done poem for this contest. Good luck. I think it is very creative to take the subject of the contest, and couple it with July 4th celebration. The message is strong and well-delivered. Terry.

This is an excellent poem to think about this freedom celebration week. You've covered well the blessings of freedom we enjoy. I pray that our freedoms will continue in the land we love.

Thanks so much Verna. I know that when I was a girl, I remember how Russia ruled their country so harshly and I never forgot how strict they were and how awful communism seemed. My mother used to tell me that they couldn't be caught with a bible or they could be executed. So I have never forgotten that and don't take my freedom for granite. So thanks again my dear friend.

Everything you wrote in your poem you were able to because we are free.
The life we've lived came about because of all those who lost their lives for our freedom.
I share all your words.
Have a Happy Free Fourth!

Hey John, I forgot to ask if you could remove my name from here as this is a blind contest and I don't want to be disqualified. Lol, you just know my style too well. Yet I love that you do. Thanks so much!
-
Absolutely. Disqualify you would be the last thing I?d want to do. Done!
-
You're so sweet! Thanks!

This was a really beautiful poem and reminds us all of how lucky we are. Some freedoms may seem small, but should never be taken for granted. Happy Independence day for Tuesday!

Oh gosh,
What a lovely poem to read early this morning in Spain... Gave me goosebumps...
Very good rhyme form...and so because of that it was a smooth read throughout.
Really good!!

Fourth stanza, choose? Penultimate stanza, love? Maybe?
Otherwise this is a sweet and heartfelt poem, that flows well and has decent, unforced rhyme. Well done.

Hi JSD, I was stumbling on that line too, so it is always comforting to hear it from a reviewer that it isn't right. I edited this right away this morning to what I thought you meant. I always appreciate good feedback, and of course appreciate your very kind comments too. So thank you so very much my friend.

Thanks for this poem. This poem and ideas are much needed around the fourth of July. Things aren't the same as even when I was younger, but that is probably what the youth will say when they are older. I loved the imagery, rhyme scheme, color scheme, font and really was impressed with the overall work here. Thanks, Theresa H.

I can see this being used as lyrics for a song. It would work very well as such. Something in the style of Irving Berlin. Thank you for a very joyous experience. Loretta from Canada.
