I enjoy reading limericks because of their surprising and humorous final line. This one is really good. Rudolph has a cold, so children around the world may have to wait for Rudolph to drink fluids and get extra rest, while Santa relaxes in the sun. (according to your artwork) lol Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks, LJ. It might have been COVID.

Then he probably won't make it to Australia, as the trip from the North Pole would be too long and tiring! Mind you, his nose is probably even redder if he has a cold!
A fun entry. Sending you best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Thanks, Wendy. Good observation about the red nose.

Oh this is so much fun and probably very true with all the bugs going around. Our Christmas may well have to be put on hold too:
This Year I don't even know,
If to Christmas lunch we shall go,
My kids are all sick
I just hope they can kick
This awful unwelcome GASTRO!!!!
Would that win the contest?? NO? Sympathy vote?? oh well :)
Good luck and hopefully Rudolf recovers quickly!

You have a mix of syllables counts here Paul, 7,8,5,6,8, but I still felt a rhythm in this Limerick and I loved the humour, I hope his cold subsides before the one night of the year when he has a job to do. I have had a cold for a couple of weeks now! Love Dolly x

Thanks, Christine. Please excuse the syllable count. Like you said. The rhythm seemed okay.

Three cheers for a great contest entry, Paul. I like how all five lines almost rhyme. From the picture, it looks as if Santa is taking advantage of his unexpected relief.

Thanks, Shari. Please excuse the palm trees.

What a cute Limerick. None of this is true though, because we all know that Santa made his Christmas runs for years without Rudolph.
I saw no errors and enjoyed this short poem!

Thanks, Doug. Before Rudolph, Santa and his reindeer were a lot younger.

Touché. Makes me wonder how old Santa a would be.

There's no way Santa sleigh will go anywhere any night or day without Santa to light the way he's been doing it so long even longer than the Christmas song...
"Grandma got run over by a Reindeer!"
...
Oh well this is another
Fanstory contest entry which is rich in theme and imagery. And good luck with your contest entry.

Thanks, Doc. Santa hasn't run over any grandmothers since Rudolph came on board.

This is a humorous limerick that I think children will enjoy. It would be
perfect in a children's book of poems. You followed the form for a limerick using five lines using an AABBA rhyming pattern. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Mia. Maybe someday I will put together a children's book of poems.

Very nice. You'd think Santa has a fog lamp or high-beams for his sleigh by now. Your rhyme and structure is good, and you found a way to add new humor to classical figures.
Good work and good luck.

Thanks, Lance. I think he got a GPS a couple of years ago.

This is so fun! I love picturing a frantic Santa and a poor sick Rudolph who both waited all year for this one night, just to have to call in sick. Thank you for writing!

Thanks, Breeze. I just talked to Santa, and he said, "Better late than never."
