-I like the artwork you chose and the questions you asked.
-I learned some interesting things about Lee, including his full name and the backstory about his FS name.
-We learn a lot about his writing style in fiction and non-fiction.
-His work background is also interesting; I didn't know he wrote ads.
It's probably helpful when writing flash fiction.
-He is creative even in his responses, like "I was to poetry what Harvey the swayback mule was to the Kentucky Derby."
-Thanks for sharing another interview; you do a good job with them, Terry.

You are welcome, Terry, and he is, indeed!

I think I am late to the party -- already All Time Best - and well deserved excellent ratings. I love the interviews and the presentation of each is excellently directed toward who that particular writer's 'fanstory persona'. Great job as always.
I have been a fan of Humpwhistle since returning the Fanstory in Nov 2021. His work is always worthy of reading, as is yours. I enjoy the humor and the 'real' of your writing, Terry. I both learned and enjoyed this interview. Another great job!

7/6/23 -- Loved both the update and enjoyed re-reading the initial interview. Great job. I, for one, hope Humpwhistle will continue to contribute to FS. The site is made better by his contributions. ann

I see you carried through on your idea to interview F.S. writers. What great questions and, of course, the answers were most interesting as well as entertaining. I'm going to have to try to find the one on Helen since she's one of the few people I know here. Well done. Regards, Lilly

Thank you, Lilly. Helen's is the first interview. It is in my portfolio. You may also enjoy RG Star's three-part, as he is a poet extraordinary. Terry

I looked for it after I sent these comments off to you and couldn't find it. My concentration level is going to hell. Would you mind sending me a link in my message box?

I enjoyed this interview, filled with both information and humour, not forgetting wit. His style is one that not many could or should emulate, but there are plenty of tips for good writing in one's own style.

Hi Terry, this is a great interview that you did with Humpwhistle. I liked your questions and many aspects of the interview. Of special note:
Sometimes a phrase comes to mind that intrigues me. Or I overhear a snippet of conversation that suggests an 'atmosphere' to me.
(I usually write poetry, but it's usually a phrase that gives me the idea and pulls on me until I write something.)
Also:
I rely heavily on Roget's Super Thesaurus, Second Edition. As tools go, it is even more important to me than a solid dictionary.
(This is so true)
And regarding flash fiction:
Choose a story that'll fit in the designated box, then hammer each word until all the flab is excised.
(Exactly.)
Terry, this was an informative and productive review. Well done.

This is an engaging, informational, and most entertaining interview.
I am not familiar with his work, but if it is anything like his personality I will have to take a look.
You asked relevant questions that triggered some unique answers but also great advice.
I plan to print this out so I can reread as a reference.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for reading, start with "The Heist" it's a 250-flash fiction and then go into his portfolio, you will not be disappointed. Terry.

Predictably entertaining and filled with fascinating insight.
You'll have to share the six stars, I'm afraid. Equally well deserved. If you think they belong to him, ask yourself, 'Where would Samuel Johnson have been without James Boswell?'
There's much wisdom to take away from this interview. Three of my favourite quotes are:
There can be no interesting character in predictable stories
Good dialogue needs to meander a little.
Good writing has a rhythm.

I've known Lee ever since I've been on fanstory, I've never thought I could gleam a moral from his writing, just a touch of fatalism, I don't think Lee holds to an ideal, he's a pragmatist as you discovered in your interview, and really if we're truthful, aren't we all? We just pretend we are, and hope it works out. No one is 100% full of truth, (except one) and I've wanted to be like Him for a lifetime. Bless you for this, Roy
