Your fine descriptions took me this ambient scene and your perfect metered flow brought a melancholy tune to this fine poem. A calm and peaceful write and my favourite stanza is this one:
Blue sky turns pale with saffron stripes.
A rhubarb blush begins to glow.
Before the stars come out to shine
those twilight shades put on their show.
A beautiful well thought out poem penned by a talented poet, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Your contest entry is great, Janet. Not only do you incorporate excellent rhymes, but the imagery is super. I could see everything as I read. Your lines read smooth with great rhymes. The last lines remind me of a couple watching the sky at sundown and embracing at the same time.

I enjoyed the fourth stanza in particular, interesting that the description of sunset colors invokes the sense of taste, completing the sensory experience for the delighted reader.

This simple poem holds a message for everyone in today's busy, busy world. How true these words are in urging everyone to find a "quiet place" to rest and recharge. Whether it is a real place or just a figment of the imagination, such a retreat can be a saving grace. The poet speaks of a tryst with a beloved whose presence dispels all feelings of worry and distress, just by "being there". How sweet and romantic. cheers Cass
