What a wonderful story, and what a beautiful soul you must be! Pup owes you her life, and I'm sure she knows that. I also love your choice of animal names, ha! We once had a cat named dog...lol. Well done. Best wishes!

This is such a sweet Beautuful story. I think you were meant to have pup and pup was meant to have you. And the people that knew you believed you would nurse him back to health and be good to him. Very nice photo of your dog. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. Pup and I are very close. I think she would die of a broken heart if anthing happened to me. Hugs.

What a heartwarming story about your love and compassion for animals. I grew up with dogs. We once had a dog my father named Mutt, so the name Dog or Horse is not surprising. I truly enjoyed this story and could visualize Pup chasing the kittens, and the kittens chasing Pup. I wish you the best in the contest.

Thank you. Someday I will write about one exceptionally funny incident involving Pup, the kittens and a gopher. I was hilarious and the gopher won the day. Hugs

Very heartfelt and touching
work of your kindness and
the animals you've loved in
your generous life. I lost my
late husband two years ago,
but my daughter, son-in-law,
and my two grandchildren,
and their two lively dogs have
filled my widow's heart. My
very best wishes for the
contest. ~

Thank you. I have been an animal magnet for as long as I can remember. In years past I often had several horses that I brought back from abuse and starvation Hugs.

This was a wonderful and sad story. You have a heart of gold. And those animals feel your love. And it is amazing that those pets are still with you.
I know, they are safe and secure with someone like you. May your husband rest in peace along with mine. Thank you for such a heartfelt story.

Thank you. Yes, I have one cat that is over twenty. My husband was not a cat lover but I converted him. I think he worried about the cats more than I did sometimes. Hugs

I really loved this story, and that you were able to give a home to a dog that truly needed it, I am guessing it is common knowledge that you are an animal lover, dont be surprised if more show up at your doorstep.

I hope I don't inheirit any more animals. Not because I don't love them, bu t because I would hate to leave them alone if something were to happen to me. Old age gets us all sooner or later. Hugs

As an animal lover, I enjoyed your lines here, and somehow, also dreading the day. Even leaving for a first holiday leaves anxiety.
Wishing you well in the competition.
My best wishes.

I love this poem! As a dog owner and lover , it's my favorite topic. I have a 9 year old blonde lab, named Sienna. She is my support animal. I would be lost without her. I'm sorry you have had to deal with losing pets, I can't imagine what that feels like. Thanks for sharing.

Although we have enjoyed and owned 12 cats and four dogs, we decided that we won't own anymore, we love them but we feel they may outlive us, so we don't want that for our children to be left with them. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you. I never intended to have all these pets at age 76, it just happened. When we had the dairy people always dropped off cats. I would get them fixed and try to find homes for them. I still ended up with 6 cats. Hugs

Same with us, they were all strays, God must have thought we needed them, and He was right,
