I think prejudice still exists and you're correct a person's heart cannot be changed by legislation. Only God can change a heart and only if the person wants to change. God loved us ALL, he doesn't care about the color of one's skin. Prejudice comes in all shapes and sizes. I was traveling in Tangiers, Africa a few years ago and they had white slave markets.

This well written poem is an excellent commentary on why we should love without judgment. You made some very good points. My favorite line was: Grace sets free and never binds. You might want to check the date at the bottom.

The Ten Commandments are written in God's hand, why is it so hard for people to follow them? They are simple, understandable is all languages, and so easy to follow. Yet I know not of a single time with the whole human race was fully living in peace and being kind to our neighbours. Your poem hits hope, Roy, and your author's notes back up your words. Today we have Putin against Ukraine, I fear he is one of Satan's own. Your poem is excellent, my friend. Well done!! :)) Sandra xx

Roy I love the picture you have chosen depicting one reaching out to God's waiting hand. We cannot change the world, but each of us can do our part by loving God with all our heart and our neighbour as ourselves. A beautiful poem expressing this.

Comment from Mary Vigasin
A very thought-provoking and well-written and powerfully stated poem.
The first stanza caught my attention right away. "We sit in judgement of times past, when diff'rent concepts had been cast."
It seems we spend an awful lot of time judging our historic figures for carrying concepts of the time and need to erase them and any contributions to society. Would you believe that Abraham Lincoln was to be removed as a school name?
The last stanza truly sums up changing one's heart to move forward by loving one's "neighbor" for a better society.
Blessings,
Mary

Roy,
This is a good poem that shows us that faith is a start of becoming less judgemental. All but his followers judge Hitler as being evil and most would agree Mother Teresa deserved to be sainted. If a descriptor is true is it really a judgment?

You're welcome on both accounts. So is it as I have heard you can judge the acts but not the person.

This was a very in-depth poem of the hurt injustice can cause a soul. Yes we are instructed to love our fellow man but do we as we should? And yet, what a dangerous place to judge, lest we be judged ourselves? So many things are so unfair and it is natural to wonder why. The concepts of today say something different than what we actually sometimes see and feel. Excellent work. Thank you for your description at the end.

The words within the binding of the Good Book are timeless. Our Constitution in the states is also wisely written, and yet there are 2500 variants to the bible and the Constitution is under attack with every new quack elected.

Most excellent, the author's notes as well as the poem.
We have a resurgence of meanness toward the poor and less powerful right now in the U.S. - by those who profess Christian beliefs. I don't see a correction short of the 2nd coming.
God bless.
