The thing that comes immediately to mind. It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove any and all doubt. Expressing something in writing that is utterly foolish and without merit can serve the exact same purpose.

Having read the prompt and thinking "This may not be as easy as it first seems," I think you nailed it. Of course, we sometimes speak in an out-of-character manner, but if we constantly say off-the-wall, stupid things, no one's going to believe we're highly intelligent! LOL! Good job
