Oh, beautiful and reverent words about our dear Lord and Savior!
"When Jesus graced my longing life,
He came with sweet light, shining bright;
no matter trouble, grief, or strife,
I've never walked without His light"
Me too, dear friend in Christ!!
He picked me up from my personal hell and set me free.
This is a very in-depth write and I wish you luck in the contest. I love this portrait of Him...it helps us remember that great suffering is sometimes a part of grace.

Thank you, my dear sister, for this very personal and heartfelt, awesome six-star review! I'm sorry for the slight delay in replying; I didn't expect such a great response!
I really appreciate everything you wrote, and that you shared some of your own testimony with me.
Yes, the Christian life is not always easy, but God is always faithful. He has promised to always be with us, and He is. He is the "light who gives light to every man who comes into the world," and He is ours.
God bless you, Sherry, and thank you very much for your encouragement, as together we lift up Jesus.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I never tire of the story of Christ. I just finished reading Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Jesus". Your notes are great, and the sonnet is well done. The last two lines finish it up very nicely.

There comes a time in our lives when darkness surrounds us and lures us to gloomy thoughts. In such dark times, what gives us motivation is the power of God. He inspires us with his teachings, lights a flame in a dark tunnel and hope starts to bloom within our hearts. I enjoyed your emotional spiritual poem. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you so much, Seshadri, for this beautiful review, the five stars and your meaningful thoughts. There are certainly emotions involved, but it goes even deeper, down to my spirit, where I made a commitment to my Savior, as He did on that Cross, over 2,000 years ago. He has me in His arms, and will never let me go. Love, true love, is more than a feeling; having this faith was a choice I made, by the grace of God. Love is a choice. I'm so happy that you enjoyed my poem.
It's amazing that while I never mentioned the word "hope" anywhere in the poem or my Notes, you are the second person to see it -- Jesus is, absolutely, my source of hope, and it gives me great joy that this has come through my poem.
God bless you, my friend.

This is a beautiful love sonnet to Jesus. You rhyme and flow are smooth and right on and the words are inspiring. I enjoyed your notes, and I'm glad you listed the prophecies of Isaiah in your notes. This it too much for a skeptic to deny.

To my dear friend Beth, thank you so much for your glowing six-star review, and very encouraging comments! Please excuse the delay, as so many things have come up, and the response to this post was more than I expected!
I have always found the prophecies in Isaiah 53 particularly compelling, in addition to the ones in Psalm 22, besides hundreds of others inscribed centuries apart, throughout the Old Testament ... and others in both the Old and New Testament are having their fulfillment even now. This will happen increasingly with the passage of time, and I can only hope and pray that many precious people will open their hearts to these words, while they still have time.
I was once a skeptic, but if God got a hold of my heart, He can do it for others!
May He bless you and your family, abundantly.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

Excellent faith based poem that brings forth how Christ suffered and died for us. "I've never walked without His light" is a wonderful line that captures well a journey of faith. Your smooth flow of rhyming words also adds to the strength of your poem.

Thank you very much, Elaine, for this beautiful review and the five stars, with your meaningful comments. Yes, when I said "yes" to Jesus, it's just as though a light went on, in my life! It made such a big difference. And I will be eternally grateful.
God bless you, always, my sister. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

Nice paean. Makes one wonder when we are all going to find the Christ Nature within themselves. Gautama Siddartha, Mary Baker Eddy, Jesus of Nazareth, and others all appear to have done so....John

Thank you very much, John, for this thoughtful review. Jesus knew very clearly who He was -- the Son of God. When He got up in the Temple one day and read a prophetic passage proclaiming it, he upset some people, but He spoke the truth.
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor ..." Isaiah 61, verse 1, a very powerful verse, with strong implications about how to treat others.
I love your profile picture -- you're a lovely couple, with such a cute little dog!
Blessings, Mary Kay

Hi Katiemae,
Thank you so much for your awesome review, the six stars and your wonderful remarks. I actually surprised myself with this sonnet, because I never counted beats while composing it. Then, as an afterthought, I looked up the rhythm requirements for a sonnet, went back and counted, and all I can do is give glory to God! I am very touched that you found it one of the best faith poems you read on this site. Thank you for that.
May God bless you, my friend. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

You are most welcome. Iambic meter is just naturally the way we talk. If you were concentrating on the words and phrases (which is what I suspect you did) it will come out on its own.
Well deserved Mary Kay!
Katiemae!

Hello Mary,
In the light of Author's Note, It's a nice piece of Spiritual Poetry in the form of 'Sonnet' having impressive phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting the poet's unflinching faith in lord Jesus which is the source of 'Hope' in life.
Picture enhances depth and beauty of the poem.
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

It is interesting to me that I never mentioned the word "hope" in either the poem or my Author Notes, and yet, you got that from my post--yes, Jesus Christ is my "living hope," which is also similar to the title of a Christian song that has recently become popular. He is, absolutely, my hope.
God bless you, my friend. Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

Thank you, Alcreator, for this kind and excellent review, the five stars and your thoughtful comments. I am deeply indebted to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all He has done for me; there are no words to describe it. There is a song, "Such love! Such wondrous love. Such love! Such wondrous love. That God should love, a sinner such as I, how wonderful is love like this." May He bless you.

Well done friend. We are reaching out to those who know not the Lord. He is our only hope in torrid times. Reaching out with the story of His death and resurrection, of His love for us, His forgiveness of all sins. We know we will sit at His feet on heaven's golden shores. Kxx

Dear Kay, thank you so much for your beautiful, sincere six-star review and your meaningful comments. Yes, this is a form of outreach and testimony. It is a blessing when it edifies those who believes, but we also hope to reach others who haven't heard the truth of the Gospel, just as I once was -- lost in a world of philosophies and religions, but waiting for Christ to reveal Himself to me, "full of grace and truth." It is a blessing to know Him as Savior and Lord! May God bless you, my friend.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo
