It sounds like this house was a nice and loving place to live when it was new.
I like the metaphor of the house's light and the light of memory.
It is always good to stay connected to your roots

Whether from the picture (ekphrastic) or whether from fore, made no difference. Even if from the both, you took me where you wanted it to go.
Aspects of fore, from ''cornbread ' to 'fatback and beans' or honey with spoon', this was written with perfect abandon. I loved the aura surrounding the poetry, and the aura surrounding the imagery. You took me back to a place of then, where many may wish parts of, was now.

Isn't it amazing how one instance, sighting, experience, can elicit a plethora of memories. Mine are often accompanied not only by sightings, but by scents and fragrances.
Beautiful imagery.
A few nits to consider:
*dusty curtain's (curtains)
*moons (moon's) full face
*with longer shadow's. (shadows)

Your picture reminds that I like all pictures that bring back good memories. Lately I have been looking at pictures of the past everyday. I brings back sweet memories.
When I read the following sentence: "Raising in me an expectation of hearing mom's call that dinner was being served...", it certainly reminds me of the same voice at home when I was kid...
Time goes so fast... Let's us all enjoy everyday that we are still alive.

Old houses do not belong to people. Actually, people belong to them. Our feet may take us to a different land, but our hearts will remain there. Memories last a lifetime, events last a second maybe. I enjoyed the wonderful freeversse poem. Thanks for sharing!
