Yes, Many people look down on the ytrley vulture that lives in this area but I know they are necessary to clean up the road kill and any other mishap that lays out under the sun and goes unnoticed. We need them to do the dishes so to speak. LOL well done,(but they are butt ugly), Sandra LOL Nancy:)xxx

Hello again, Sandra. i enjoy stopping by and reading your writing on different species. You sure picked a dandy here. What is the difference (if any) between a buzzard and a vulture?
I sure did not know this: ""New World turkey vultures have an excellent sense of smell and can smell dead animals from a distance of one and a half miles."
Wonderful write, Sandra. :) Bob

Buzzards mostly kill their prey, whilst vultures wait for them to die. Vultures can eat anything that is reeking with disease, and live, where buzzards would die.
Thank you so much for reading this one, Bob, I really appreciate it. I learnt a lot about these birds and have a lot more respect for them. Have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xx

You too. :) Bob

Vultures- nature's 'janitors'?
I have enjoyed each of your poems on your path to these ABCs of the animal kingdom.

I am so glad I caught this post. I am working from 6:00 in the morning until 6:30 at night. I can't get everything done. By the time I get dinner and dishes done I'm too tired to do anything and our youngest son got his first job so had to move and get an apartment ASAP, It's been a mess. I find vultures repulsive, but some critters got to clean up the mess. LOL Enjoyed reading your post.

You are busy, my word. Are you back in class now? Ours are due back in September, which is the normal time to go after the summer holidays, but there is still concern about the virus and the lumping all the children together.
Thank you for findiing a moment to read this one. I know what you mean, but they are an important bird if we don't want all the diseases again. As you say, we need them to clean up the mess! Have a better week, my friend, and a big thank you for the six stars. Warm hugs. :)) Sandra xx

We are sort of back in school. It's on-line learning, but it's not working, so they're trying to get kids back in school
-
No, it hasn't worked here, either. I'll be glad when they come up with a vaccine so life can get back to some sort of normal.

Hi Sandra, again you've written a very interesting article about our animals on earth and this time it's about the vultures. As you say they have an unfair reputation, as they have an important role to play; to keep deceases at bay. Your essay is very comprehensive and, as always, I've learned something new.
Here in Spain we have our very own 'buitre' which is quite magnificent in flight. They're often mistaken for being a huge mountain eagle. But I'm sure you know all that.
Graham has again made a wonderful drawing.
A big hug from a very hot Spain. Ulla xxx

I hate to say it, but I was probably one of those who thought they were eagles. I never actually saw any where dead animals were. But I have seen eagles fly off with a cat or puppy. I shiver for the poor animals, what a horrid death.
Thank you so much for the lover six stars, Ulla, and your really fabulous review. Just four more to go! Warm hugs, my friend! :)) Sandra xxx

I don't blame you for thinking they are eagles. But here in the mountains they come down low enough to see ther naked necks, and you'll know. Aww, only three chapters left. I'm going to miss it.Hopefully, you have a new project lined up. xxx

I didn't realize how important these ugly creatures really are. What'd happen if they weren't around. I thought all birds built nests, learned something new today. I always learn something new with your posts. It's well-written, very interesting start to finish. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you so much for the lovely six stars, Misty, and the wonderful review. I think many countries would find themselves having to cope with a lot more disease, which would then spread like the Covid-19 has. So, let's hope that never happens!!
You have quite made my day with your complimentary words, my friend, thank you. Have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xx

Perfectly done, and amazing in all the information. I did a free verse on the topic of circles and used the circling of buzzards. KInda off the wall, but it was fun.

Thank you, dear Barb! I wonder if I read that one, I'll check it out. Sometimes I'm off here for a few days, and when I come back I've got a couple of hundred messages. :(
I'm so pleased you liked this one of the vultures. I now have a much higher respect for these birds. I hope you're feeling a lot better, my friend. Warm hugs. Sandra xx

The vulture is a very essential and interesting species. The various types here, old world and new world are fascinating. You are able to make it very clear how essential it is to have these in our world. If they are on the verge of extinction, do you think that viruses like Covid19 may be a result?
Your coverage is so good Sandra. Your book will be awesome.

I don't think so, they were unwittingly poisoned in Africa, by the drug they gave cattle. Now that's changed, they are picking up a bit. The covid virus wouldn't touch them, as they say, only poison or guns can kill them. There are places where people are using them for target practice and shooting them. I think they should be a protected species everywhere, not just in places like India.
Thank you so very much for the six stars, Ralf, and the lovely review. I really appreciated them both. Warm hugs, Sandra xx

Hello Sandra.
OUTSTANDING!!!! This is the one I was hoping for. â?¨ð???
After a visit to a program to learn about vultures (buzzards), I have been a huge fan of those ugly, yet essential creatures.
They are God's clean up crew. I am amazed how they can ingest diseased remains and not experience any sickness and they remove the rotting diseased carcasses to protect the health of other creatures including humans. What a great creation from GOD!!!
Living away from a metropolitan area, I see them virtually every week. The California Condor is the most amazing of them all.

Then, I'm even more pleased that I chose this one. I'm hoping that people will see just how much this remarkable bird does to keep our planet clean. I love the title, 'God's clean up crew!' that is so true. I've never seen one, but would love to. I've really changed my opinion on these lovely birds. What I liked was how God aided the vulture in not putting feathers on its head and neck. How clever was that!! Thank you so very much for the six stars, and the really lovely review. Your words have really made my day. Sending you a warm hug! :)) Sandra xx

In the Old West in the US, there were just called buzzards. They truly are amazing. I saw three of them cleaning up a critter in a field a couple of weeks ago.
-
You are lucky to see them in the wild like that. They had them in Spain in an animal park, so it wasn't the same. It wasn't a zoo where they are in cages, they did fly around but were trained to come back for food. Now I've learnt more about them, I think they are wrong to keep them that way. They should be free to do what they are born to do.
This book, that I originally thought would just be for Eric, has now captured the interest of many adults on here who want a copy. I'm not sure now what age group to put this down as. Perhaps my 9 - 109 would be right? lol. I'm so pleased I went for the vulture, I've learn to really appreciate them now. xx

Now who would ever think that a vulture has a real purpose in life, not me for sure, before now. So, I guess that everything on God's beautiful earth has a real reason for being here. And, thanks for bringing it to my attention. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

There you go, Ric! Everything has a purpose, (except flies!) God knows what is needed, and supplies it to keep this wonderful world healthy. Than you so much for the six stars, my friend, and the lovely review. You're such a good friend, have a wonderful day! :)) Sandra xx
