Sara,
Your ABC book is marvelous idea. Your grandson Eric
will benefit and many other children as well.
Including a poem and fun facts makes this a must
have book. If you go public I will buy a copy for our
granddaughter.
I learned more about Hippo's from this reading
than I had previous knowledge of.
Thank you for sharing.

Aw, thank you, Richie, what a lovely compliment. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this letter H in my alphabet book of animals. I'm trying hard to make it as interesting as possible for my grandson to learn from. Your words are so encouraging, thank you. :)) Sandra xxx

They are amazing animals that are very strong and dangerous when provoked. I didn't know that they lived together in such large groups. I know that like the elephant, predators don't have much of a chance getting to their young with such a formidable group around them. I'm enjoying these informative and well written offerings that you share with us here. Great job and well done!

What a lovely review, Jeffrey, thank you so much. I think anyone would be dangerous when our young are threatened, so we can't blame them for that. Those who go after them for profit really don't deserve sympathy if they get hurt. Thank you, my friend. Sending you a hug. :)) Sandra. xxx

Great writing! I did not know that people ate Hippopotamuses or that they had ivory teeth. I think I learn more from your postings which is a good thing.

I didn't know they ate hippos, either, and really don't want to try it, either. And the ivory teeth, that was a big surprise, and we know from the elephants and rhinos how man will mutilate them for the ivory. Those men should be shot. Thank you so much for reading this one, my friend, I'm so pleased you are enjoying these posts. Big hugs!! :)) Sandra xx

Tell Graham I think this is his best picture so far. He does a good job. Wow, You told me a lot about the Hippo I didn't know. I never cared to know. I knew they were huge but I never knew how huge. My word they are enormous. Well done Sandra. Nancy:)

I have told Graham what you thought of his picture on the hippo, now there is no room for my head! lol. Bless him. Thank you from both of us, for your lovely review. Yes, I don't think you should go looking for the hippo, he's only friendly with his own kind! lol. Sending you a hug, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Another great posting Sandra. I am so glad you decided to write about the hippo, I really learned a lot, some of it I knew but it was packed full of knowledge that I enjoyed. Thank you to Graham for the picture, I look forward to them. Fantastic job, big virtual hugs, a smile behind the mask and blessings to be safe, be well.

Fresh out of six. These creatures have always remind me of a pack of oversize hogs playing in the mud. Good one Sandy. I know the boy will appreciate it someday.

The six is not the important thing, Chuck, it's that you read it that made me smile. They are related to the pig, so that is why they remind you of the 'oversized hog', lol. I just wish people would respect that they are God's creatures and stop killing them for the ivory in their teeth. What terrible animals some people are. Thank you my dear friend, for this lovely review. Sending you a hug. :)) Sandy. xxx

This is a well-written, very educational piece. I learned a lot today. I knew they were huge but not that big, wow. I didn't realize they spent so much time in water either. I didn't realize their gestation period is as long as an elephant's. Makes sense though. Nicely done as always.

Thank you so very much for the six stars and amazing review, Misty. I never knew any of this either. What incredible animals they are, and we are killing them! I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one, and your support has been wonderful. Thank you, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you for sharing with us. I learned something and enjoyed reading.

They can hold their breath for five minutes under water before surfacing to breathe. They do this automatically, even while sleeping and not waking up. (Interesting! I didn't know this.)

Hippopotamuses are in decline in Africa and are classified as vulnerable due to mans unregulated hunting for their meat, (I am not 100% sure about this, but about 95% that man's needs an apostrophe)

Hi Barbara. I put the apostrophe in when I first wrote this, then took it out. I'm not sure, either. I thought I'd wait to see if someone picked me up on it, and you have. I'll put it back and see how it goes. Thank you so much for reading this letter H, and for the nice review, my friend. Have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xxx

I didn't know they are disappearing from Africa. That would really be a shame. The hippo really defies nature due to its size. You wouldn't think they could do all they do with their size. Great job. Shirley

Hi, Shirley. I was really surprised to learn how fast they can run, 35mph, and with all that weight they carry! I can get as far at the gate, I won't tell you how far that is, though, lol! Thank you so much for reading my letter H, my friend, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)) Sandra xx

Wonderful one line descriptions that paint a vivid picture, "The Hippo bulls stand wide and tall..." For sure, it made me smile. This is the secret of nature...I didn't know anything about hippo, now I like them.
