I found this to be an exceptional write let alone an entry for the contest! You found an excellent picture to accompany your flash story and kept in the guidelines of 52 words! What a great concept of how everything is NOT always shared by a couple in marriage (or shouldn't be!) I'm impressed in how you fit it in so perfectly!

Oh, Kathleen, you just made my entire weekend and next week, ma'am! ;) ;) It was a real 'heckuva' past week and kinda just put this one together on a whim I got from a couple of students that showed up with the same new glasses (different class/grade level) .... thank you so very much!! ;) :) You have a wonderful remainder of the weekend and take care! ;) :) Yvette

Hi Yvette :)
What a sweet little story...and so relatable too!
As we get older, things do seem to fail us and sometimes quite rapidly...I can understand why Marianne would feel so upset to think that her eyesight had deteriorated overnight. I also know how easy it is to pick up someone else glasses by mistake as I've done it myself!
Good luck in the contest with this very well written story.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Thanx so much for your review, Debra -- hard to put much into 50 words so I had hoped the picture would 'set the mood' for me... LOL! ;) :) Take care, ma'am, and enjoy the rest of the weekend! ;) :) Yvette

Excellent entry for the dribble contest. Thanks for sharing this writing about the joys of growing old and Sharing almost everything. I agree that that doesn't work well with glasses.

Aww! I'm so glad it was just the wrong glasses that were causing the problem.
I love how you mislead us with this one. I also, for some reason, love the characters, even though your story is very short.
Good luck in the contest.

I tried to put that 'lovable older couple' feel in there with the photo, Maria -- 50 words is just not much to work with ... and you have the shorter writes mastered so the rest of us are playing catch up!! ;) ;) Glad you could relate! ;) :) Take care! ;) Yvette

That was brilliant! And I've done that so many times, too. I think I'd best put a pink ribbon on my frames!! This is an excellent contest entry, you managed to 'show' so much in this dribble fiction story. Well done, and good luck! :)) Sandra xx

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed the emotions I tried to portray here, Sandra -- Probably won't happen to David and I cuz mine are prescription and his are 'readers' from the store...can't see me ever mistaking those frames for mine LOL! ;) But who knows?!! :) You take care out there! ;) Yvette

Losing my sight would be something I'd fear the most, so I felt for Marianne. Your story is a lovely look at their relationship also: she is upset but tries to hide it from her husband (quickly wipes her tears), then they can laugh together at the simple explanation of switched glasses. A nice, compact story of a relateable incident.

Thanx so much for your wonderful comments, Lisa -- difficult some times to put emotions into 50 or so words.... glad you found them here (I tried! LOL!). :) ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

How very cute and original this is! This could be fiction, but have a feeling it's closer to the truth! I can relate to the 'reading glass aging group' of oldies. Thanks for sharing . Good luck in the contest

You know, I got the crazy idea when two of my students showed up with new glasses (different classes/grade levels) with the same glasses! :) ;) Probably won't happen to David and I cuz mine are prescription and his are 'readers' from the store...can't see me ever mistaking those frames for mine LOL! ;) But who knows?!! :) Didn't have my usual time this week for 'thinking up stuff' since I'm barely keeping all the balls in the air, but it works!! ;) :) Take care! :) ;) Yvette

This is a lovely dribble flash fiction entry. I wonder if your characters ever got their false teeth mixed up! Good luck in the contest. I like happy endings. :)

So glad you enjoyed this one, Judy -- and, oh how awful on the false teeth....think that would be more of a horror write, don't you?! :) ;) LOL! ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

Everyone is making me giggle tonight Yvette, and you are no exception! I'm going to end up putting on old glasses... not someone else's! I've got more pairs of glasses floating around here than you can shake a stick at now. LOL And all in the last few years. :(

Hooray for smiling -- we all need more of it!! ;) :) The flat surfaces in our house are 'littered' with my husband's 'readers', but I've only got my one prescription pair...(okay, I keep an older pair by the bed just in case they go 'missing' - lol!). You take care, Lady S -- and keep on smiling while you write us another episode of the princesses! ;) ;) Yvette
