HELLO RACHELLE: I like this poem in that it is brief, clear, and to the point. With only six words and three lines you tell a long true story. This is clever. This is good. You are good too. Keep up witty work. God bless you. Cordially: rhonnie69.

I agree totally. How sad that the reverse isn't true as well. There is all too often effort without glory. (Can we say everything I've submitted so far for potential publishing???) Anyway, this is a good use of the poetry prompt and, as always, I wish you luck in the contest, my FSBFF.

Hi Rachelle, No truer words were ever spoken... not only is there no glory, but there is no anything. There is no learning, no progress, no nothing... well... that isn't right is it, being a double negative and all... there's no anything! There's just a mind full of mush and a body that can't do a thing. Effort must be taken to do each thing we learn from the time we're born to the day we die. No help for it.

I love the challenge of that. It's fun to see what you can achieve in just twenty-four hours' time.

Thank you for this very validating review, Susan. xo

As the 'Run for the Roses' race occurs tomorrow at Churchill Downs, the horses and bettors will question their effort on the likely 'off' track.

For six words, you have made a terrific effort.

Good luck in this contest.

What a nice review this is to read! Thank you, Mark. (And good luck tomorrow if you're one of those bettors you mentioned!!) xo

In your poem, "Effort" may well be the name of the horse. Go, Effort!! (And if he had lost, the exclamation from betters would have been, "Eff it!!"
This is a very apt image to choose. We saddle our hopes on dreams of glory then thunder down the track to a distant finish line, on a beast that has had to be trained, exercised, ridden with skill and dedication (and fed). Our success most usually comes from harnessing our energies, our efforts, with help from others. Gee, I got quite carried away on those horses. Thanks for the ride, Rachelle. xx

Yes, you were waxing quite poetic there, LisaMay! But I never say NEIGHHHH to your feedback, so I appreciated every word. Thanks for the delightful review. xo

Very good point.
I think that this is well understood in the realm of athletics, but not so much in the realm of work, and very little in the world of education. Athletes are encouraged--expected--to work out off the court/field, but scholars expect As for showing up.

"There" is a weak sentence starter. Consider editing to "No glory will come without effort." Just a thought.

The photo works well.

Hello Rachelle,
You written an excellent six word poem.
Without effort, there is little success in anything,
and without success, not much glory, either.
Good timing with the Kentucky Derby coming this weekend.
Well done
Good luck in the contest
Robert

A very well-written six-word poem about the glory we can have when we are willing to put in effort to reach the goal we want to achieve. Without effort there is no glory.

This six-word poem, What It Takes, has the required half-a-dozen words and exemplifies the meaning of the piece with the apt picture of a flying horse. That's a fast animal, man.
