Hi jmf4119. This is a very good Haiku and has a capturing Satori well done and I like the fact is is not 5-7-5 Hmmm as you have used the Haiku requiements as they have meant to be Good luck in the contest Cheers Christine ( we had a 42 degree here today so your poem cooled me down)

Ah, lovely haiku, Janet. Very well penned.
Lines one and two show a definite grammatical connection while displaying excellent concrete imagery.
Your "kigo", or seasonal reference, is obviously winter.
Your haiku is written in the present tense, as if you were experiencing the scene in the here and now.
The satori, or final line -- that "Ah-ha!" moment of insight that makes haiku so popular -- is also very well done.
You get my very last "six" of the week for this.

You have written a very beautiful Haiku. I enjoyed reading the satori of sleeping beauties... makes me long for spring. I would mention that in your notes you mention 31 syllables... that is for a Tanka... a haiku is 17 or less. Just an observation.

Thank you Melissa for your kind comments and catching my mistake in the notes. I've been working on some tanka poems lately that do have 31 syllables or less as opposed to the 17 or less in a haiku. I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

You chose so well your picture to walk along with your beautiful phrase. It meant so much different than others posting the Haiku, yours was the reality seen in this picture. So smooth. As if a person is lying down covered with the snow. Good luck. Loved it. Terry xoxo It deserves my six with pleasure.

This haiku, Snowflakes Fall, presented in short-long-short formatting, describes the blanket that covers thedormant life beneath it. Nice.

I like it! Fun satori ending calling those resting flowers "sleeping beauties." Good encampment of the two first lines.
Great to see you posting again! Happy New Year!

Your haiku makes effective use of every syllable. This is a lovely description
of how a season exerts its "authority" over the outgoing season. Good
metaphor in third line

A beautiful Haiku for the perfect time of year. Indeed, the flowers are sleeping, awaiting to be awoken in the spring. Well written and sure to be a contender. Keep up the good writing and have a blessed New Year!
