This very emphatic piece makes me think of times I've NEEDED
to write poems for an contest but simply haven't been in the mood.
Then, once I get started, I often write my best ones. BRAVO for
your 1-9-1! Janice

A very well-written 1-9-1 poem about the writer that should never stop writing even when he/she doesn't feel like writing, even when it is only rough drafts at first it can always be corrected and shaped later.

A striking presentation here to reinforce your point. It's easy to put writing off in order to attend to less important things, the trivia that can so easily be used as an excuse for not putting pen to paper.

Cheers Mr. Contestant;
> I wish I could really convince myself that this is absolutely the actually right way to conduct myself as a writer.
> Writing lyrics for over 50 years and as an established songwriter I find out sometimes it's good to force what after a while it sounds like it.
> So writing when you're aura or peace of mind and will not influenced by outside activity or influences is best time to write. Write for the sake of writing is effective for posture and the mechanics of writing in which is good.
> Good luck in the contest and take care and have a good one you have a good point.

I am pondering this entry. That means that I like it. For me, at least, it gives me something to think about.
You see, I never write when I don't feel like it, which is often. I always feel like reading, but writing is work for me. I suppose you are correct. Pen to paper gets my juices flowing a little, which is the primary reason that I am on FanStory. It's just work though if I am not in the mood. Oh well. I will keep mulling this one over.
My only suggestion has to do with presentation. Since this is a contest, you want to use every trick available. I would use a photo or artwork. I'd use humor and look for someone really sick; maybe someone with broken limbs talking into a dictaphone. Too silly? Maybe just a nice quill if you want to keep the tone serious. Voters are spoiled to the artwork. I recognize that as it is, it looks like you are writing on paper--perfect for your words. I still think it needs art though to win.

We think alike :). I saw what you did with your post. I was actually going to suggest a black background with white lettering, but I felt I was going overboard with my suggestions. The black, white, and red looks great. The entry looks polished now.

He he he, that's what poets do and the more you do it, the easier it seems to flow, I wish you luck with this unusual form, few words speaking volumes, love Dolly x

I think this is a perfect entry for the 1-9-1 prompt. Your philosophical urging to the reader is great for this website...... You may wish to add artwork for an added Umph..... it seems to make a difference in contests. Good luck and good job.

Your poem should become the mantra of all of us who write for whatever reason. I write because I cannot not write. Thank you for something helpful to me in keeping to my writing schedule.

Comment from Hugh McDowell
Well written message in such a short format. Your poem expressed an important component of writing. Discipline. Imagination is great but the day to day practice is what gives good writers an edge. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice. Excellent. Hugh
