Bob, this is an absolutely beautiful free verse.
I love the personification of winter, the imagery,
alliteration, and word choice. Just such a pleasure
to read. Thanks for sharing. I loved it.

Beautifully rendered free verse poem, Bob.
Smattered here and there with just the right amount of alliterative phrasing, the overall message here that spring is in the air is fabulously conveyed.
Bravo, Bob.

Thank you, Deano. It is a treasure indeed when you award me a six for poetry. You are one of the best poets on the site. Hope you are well (and your Dad).. Blessings and thanks again, Bob

You're more than welcome, Bob.
I feel much the same about you and your story telling.
Dad's not doing very well and I'm spending quite a lot of time with him. In fact, I am with him now as I type this response.
He doesn't know who I am, not always. But he appreciates having someone to talk to.
Take care, my dear friend.

Now I know what those stalagmites waiting to stab someone are the grand ol man's tears. But I love the powdery winter that makes everything white especially the leafless trees, and crunch satisfactorily under the boots as I sink into the mound.
Still, spring and atumn remain my favourite seasons. Winter is the untouchable beauty, worshipped from afar.

Excellent personification of winter as an old man and the supporting imagery with his breath, his fists, his cries and his tears that dangle like icy crystal fingers without aim. You bring him to life.
Excellent presentation which adds to the chill with its icy colors.

I don't much care for winter, but I do miss it. The weather here is pretty much the same year round. It does cool down in the evenings but that is as close to winter as we get. Lovey work with this one. I enjoyed it very much. Did you get my PM? I found the blurb and sent it to you.

Hello Bob!
Oh my goodness! This is by far one of my favorite offerings composed by your pen! And you know why! I never thought "Old Man Winter" was ever going to leave northern Michigan! (As an aside, one of my friends on facebook posted today the query, "I know it's May 22nd, but do any of you think it is too early to take my boots home from work, yet!?)
Back to your wonderful verse: It is alive with vivid personification and creative imagery I loved it!
Thank you!

Comment from Gloria ....
Lovely artwork choice, Bob. I must admit I'm glad winter is off the books again for at least another six months. That said, fantastic poem. Your verb and nouns just dance off the page with the blustery punch of winter.
Excellent presentation as well. A lovely image-filled poem. I always figured you were a poet. :)

Thanksso much, Gloria. I always have liked to take my hand to poetry from time to time. I find it helps my novel writingbecaause of the need to use imagery constantly. My new novel Chapter one will be posted soon and then I will probably put my poetry senses away for a while. Bless you, Gloria. You are one, if not the, best poets on this site. Bob

This is different, of course, but equally as beautiful and haunting as the rest of your work. I'm looking forward to an autographed copy of your book coming out in September, about all the chapters I read early about the abused family. If this isn't it, it's OK. I want to read whatever novel you write!
