What a great write Tony I may have said this before but you have a wonderful way with words. Making the ravens, Huginn and Muninn to represent Memory and wisdom Is very well done indeed. Thank you for sharing this great poem
A well deserved 6

Thanks, Dip. Kind words and six stars! Very much appreciated. I'm reading a new edition of the Norse myths at the moment and was fascinated by the concept of the two ravens on Odin's shoulder. I immediately thought how sad that we mere mortals never seem to have them land on us at the same time!
Best wishes, Tony

This is deep, unique and impressively penned. Great theme and substance.
Great presentation too.
Masterful meter and rhyming and phonetics (I'll let my ix stars applaud all those phonetics without listing them).
A couple of minor suggestions...
NOTES
*
When I was young(,) he whispered in my ear,(;)
Love the rhymes here (note one nit):
I knew it all, and with that knowledge(,) built
a citadel of great magnificence
upon the bones of others, without guilt,
whilst barely understanding my offence.
Outstanding volta. Eloquent and masterful---especially the C and s sounds:
When wisdom came, he cocked his wise old head
and settled on my shoulder with a caw
that raised a spectral phalanx of the dead,
which should have brought my conscience to the fore,
Pitch perfect closing note in the couplet... and well voiced.
LOVED READING THIS ALOUD!
Warmly, rd

Good morning fawcus: This is a great mythological poem. I know that I could always depend on you to share your wisdom and intellect in your posts. I never heard of these two ravens and I used to read a lot of mythology. Thank you for sharing this post.

A very well-written Sonnet and interesting mythology about memory and wisdom. When we grow older we seem to gain wisdom but the memory.seems to fly away.
