Even though I cannot say wit a certainity that I know what is coming next, I think I do. Grandma lied about letters from your American dad and quite likely prevented you from being raised by your biological mother and father. At any rate prevented you from even knowing who your natural father was. Parents often think they know what is best when they interfere with their grown children's lives. Havoc often occurs and all hell breaks loose when the day of reckoning comes.

Oh my goodness, I certainly didn't expect the twist at the end. I was so engrossed in the story and the sadness of the final signature that I just assumed it would continue in the same vein.

Looking forward to seeing what the letter contained
hugs

What a lovely heartfelt piece. Adoption is such a difficult topic to address in a sensitive way. It is a really fascinating topic to find out as every back story is different, and you hold out hope that reunions work out well, look forward to the continuation.

1.) Only two days since I met my mother for the first time, and I already knew how she liked her brew! Amazing.
--> and COOL!

2.) "Ah, this is nice(.)" She smiled.

3.) "Then something strange happened though.
--> IMHO -- just a suggestion -- but I don't think you need BOTH 'then' AND 'though'. I might suggest choosing only one?

4.) from the Danish Authorities asking me to sign (for) the third and the final time (and maybe 'to ensure') that I agreed to give you up.
--> I realize this may sound like just a matter of style, but when I read these lines, I had to stop and re-read a couple of times to get your meaning. (May just be because of our different life zones...? )

5.) However much I focused, I still couldn't remember. It was right under the surface, yet it stubbornly stayed underneath as if prevented from coming up and catch a breath.
--> VERY nice!

6.) She wouldn't know anyway, so better say nothing at this point..
--> delete one period, please

7.) There was something here, I didn't feel quite comfortable with,
--> no comma needed. It's the continuation of the same thought

8.) "This is the last letter that arrived from that American lover of yours!"
--> have we been introduced to this person yet? If so, I've forgotten it, or perhaps it occurred before I began reading...?

Looking forward to the next installment. When your mother said she couldn't believe you were so understanding and compassionate - I was thinking the same thing. What a kind soul you are!

Assuming you will revise, I'll await the next chapter!

Hi Ulla, this wonderful story of yours is throwing out more shocks than a best selling novel, the latest twist is no exception, one of the best biographies on here at this time, looking forward to the next my friend.

When one is seeking answers to a life once lost, ofttimes the information gleaned from such inquisitiveness leads to more questions and confusions.

Your storyline is superb, as is the imagery it evokes.

Well done.

Oh no! She withheld the last communication with your father? That is crucial!
How can you cut us off there Ulla! It is a fluke that changed three lives I would guess. Your mums, your fathers and yours. We will be on pins and needles before we learn the truth. Hurry with that OKAY? LOL Nancy
