G'day Gareth. Beautifully written mate, the topic is a sad and lonely one but you gave me a deep emotional sense as I read this, a sense that this poor old bloke wasn't completely alone because you bacame his mate. Well done Sir, cheers Fez

Many thanks, Fez. I have been doing care work since 1994. I have never had a different full time job. I only recently moved into working with the elderly as most of my career was with children and young people who had special needs. It is heart wrenching to see but at least I know we do make a difference. Much appreciated, as always, my friend.

As a young bloke growing up all of my friends were decades older than me. When I was 16yo my best mate was 61yo and man. I leaned some great stuff from that old dude.

It seems sad for Eddie that his funeral was only short and that only ten people came to his funeral. I thought that the emotion, particularly when you were thinking about the memories of having a sing-song and a chat with him came through well. An excellent piece for the contest, good luck...Jacob
