Ah, the joys of candy! Who could not relate to this in one way or another. Great job!
Temptations abound
I could wander over to the soda fountain
order an ice cream creation
crowned with drifting towers of whipped cream
and
a glistening stemmed maraschino cherry
This was fun ^^^

Good morning Gary,
Indeed a diabetic's nightmare and the wrong decision for a diet conscious girl but delicious dilemmas are fun to contemplate on a lazy Sunday morning
"great job....this was fun"
feels even more gratifying than it sounds!!
Peace, hugs and lots of smiles,
Jill

It has been said with faces red
a thousand words are needed,
when all is done and all is said
to make your story heeded.
But that's not true, when they're from you
these few have done the trick.
you spread temptation it is true
Through gummy bears and licorice stick

Good morning Norbanus,
Thank you for embracing this little poem and its author so completely with the gift of your witty rhyming review.
I would bypass all the candy for a raspberry white chocolate truffle from a tiny patisserie on the left bank but that's why there is chocolate, vanilla and strawberry!
When it comes to chocolate....completely seduced
So glad that you enjoyed this walk on the lighter yummiest side. After so many seriously toned poems, I was ready for something easy on the brain.
Peace,

Birthdate August 4, eh?
You share the day with my youngest daughter, born in 1965.

I was my grandmother's birthday gift, first grandchild, first child for my mom and dad, etc, definitely a wanted child. My beloved grandmother passed away 2 years ago, at the age of 94, and it is still really tough to celebrate birthdays without her... Happy birthday to your daughter. I hope that she has a wonderful day to start off her 48th year.
Peace, hugs and lots of smiles,
Jill

You painted a mouth-watering delight with this popular treat known as candies. I could almost smell the array of various and delicious candies in that store. And chocolate, don't forget the chocolate!
well done, Jill

You're very welcome, Jill. It was a light and fun poem for sure.
In regards to the dentist, I dare say that if a child comes in with a mouth full of cavities, they would rub their hands together and plan out that new addition that they wanted to put on their house.
It's nice to see you again, my friend
take care

Oh! Now this is nostalgically sweet! It takes me back to summers spent in childhood at a lakeside resort... after long days of swimming, all of us under the age of 12 would spend long minutes at the main lodge where the "candy counter" was...
To be the age again when the decision between licorice ropes and gummy bears was a serious matter...

A very interesting poem that can be taken literally, or figuratively in that it can apply to any number of tempting situations. In its pure form, it's truly delightful and easy-going reading (I can taste the candy ... yum, yum). I truly enjoyed it. Good job.

no worries brings back memories of the cany counters when you could get a lot for a penny back then
