Very nice what a wonderful story I loved reading the ending though was fabulous made me happy to be an American again... Loved this ending "Maybe it's just me, but for me to be sitting at my desk, writing this essay, in the greatest nation in the world, is a miracle.
As an open prayer, I would like to say, Thank you God for this earth you have given us. Thank you for miracles great and small. Thank you for the love and compassion that is there for us to give and take, and thank you God, for the United States of America."

I love this writing and I can see the miracles of God in every instance and it is enjoyable to read this piece. We sometimes get caught up and forget about those seemingly small things that show us God. Great imagery, pace and flow. Lovely from start to finish. Blessings. Queenise

Hello bhogg...
I love your perspective on miracles. This was a great read to wind up my evening on the site. My cousin who is a minister in Scotland would love your perspective too, and that's another country. I can't imagine why anyone anywhere would not find this a delightful read.
Thanks for sharing.
Warmly, Rebecca

Hi, bill. This essay really touched me deeply. I loved how you went from the miracles you observed in nature to the simple gestures of humans in response to each other. Very interesting juxtaposition. Perhaps, it's why many artists spend so much time in nature. This is a beautiful write, and I enjoyed it very much. Warm regards, Bev

Dear Bill, I am with you. It was a miracle the pilot landing the plane in the Hudson River. There are miracles that happen all the time but we just fail to see them. Babies being born are a miracle. People living through a tornado like the one that Witchita is a miracle. I hope you still write for your church. They need your positive outlook! Shirley

Thanks for reading Shirley and for the awsome rating. I do still write for both churches. Of course, you've seen some of my material .... not church day fare! Always warm regards, Bill

Every July, America celebrates my birthday. Being the type of person I am, I seek humor in America's Birthday. "Do to my inate modesty, I have told many Presidents there is no need, but they don't listen." Your article is very well written.

typo - Hopefull, someone will tell - Hopefully
Without, re-repreaching - drop the comma
I love the examples you give of the bird, the tree, the laughing baby, a smile...of life's everyday miracles, and how you discuss those miracles in the framework of the sermon that was being given about how people don't think miracles occur much nowadays.
One of our newest members, the five year old son of the priest, - add the second comma
What a lovely vignette with the little boy and elderly woman.
What a thoughtful tribute to our country and appreciation for God that you end on, Bill.

Thanks Brooke - I appreciate you reading, your kind words, and as always the spots. I thought my due diligence done, but obviously released to soon. I did some fine tuning within the FS editor, which for me is always a mistake! Warm regards, Bill

Hi, Bill. I think in all instances it is not just you. They are miracles. This is an extraordinary good essay, not only for the bulletin but for all us to read. Including me onmy side of the globe ... :)

Thank you for reading Belinda and for the six. We get so few to give out, I always consider it an honor to get one. Warm regards, Bill

Bill,
I don't know why you haven't received a six for this superbly written essay. I love your humor you interject in your true tale about church, sermons and God blessing USA - I concur. I'm happily awarding you essay six well deserved stars. I too share a passion for writing and the spiritual form time to time. Your narrative is great and you descriptive scheme is excellent. Seeing a Marsh Hawk is a rare sight to see. I love this description you wrote: "The sky was even more beautiful than normal. It was cold, but a day with bright sunshine. Perhaps because there's no pollen or other airborne particulate, the sky looked cleaner an crisper. It was a brilliant, blue on blue." I love your prayer at the end. Have a blessed day and enjoy the six because you deserved it.
Melissa.

Thanks Melissa - I appreciate you reading and for your wonderful comments. I follow your work as well, and we both can be quite spiritual, but watch out! I still write things for two churches, which is something I enjoy. Always warm regards, Bill

Nice post, Bill. Lots of feel good moments. When you're looking for them, miracles happen all the time. I notice so many things in my life that I take as miraculous. I have two digital clocks, one on my bedside table and the other in my car. I wonder how normal it is that I happen to glance at the clock and catch it at 11:11, or at 4:44, etc. And I'm not a clock watcher. LOL! I take all these things as signs that I am part of something much more infinite than myself. So yeah, I believe in miracles. We live in a conscious universe.
Your gratitude for living in America is totally understandable and admirable. It took brave men to take a stand and lay their lives on the line. It was a brave start for a great country. There's no denying that kind of courage. You've a right to be proud.
I enjoyed your sermon.
You could tighten it up a bit, though. You used the word "sermon" four or five times in the first paragraph of the 'sermon'.
Well done, and very evocative. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for reading and your feedback. I'll definitely re-visit based on your input. I'm usually quite sensitive for overuse of words! Warm regards, Bill
