Definately a sad topic. Death brings up many different emotions in each person. Your poem is true to the 5-7-5 format and it flows well. Nice job.

This could be a poem in where you just insert a name. This was well written with a good emotional thought. It was my pleasure to have read and written this response for... John

Everyone can relate to the loss of somebody who was meaningful to us, especially if it was family- or friend- connected.
It's a beautiful 5-7-5 poem.
Good luck.

Nice, private thought, and yet, so widely shared. I like how you began with a punch instead of setting it up with description and character outline. Very effective.

I'm sorry that my opinion might be bit insulting, but I didn't feel much individuality in this poem. There isn't much in here that says it was written by you and no one else. Honestly, I think someone else could've said the same general statements. I'd like to ask: did you write this specifically for this contest?

No. Actually my grandfather passed Friday. He was well loved and respected throughout his hometown and surrounding communities.

This is a very good haiku for the 5-7-5 contest!
I can hear the emotion in it, something you don't always get with a haiku.
Good luck in the contest.

This is a very well written poem. One could easily feel the emotion, the sadness it contained. It makes one wonder who it was who died. JW

Nicely done! I get the feeling that the emotion in this piece comes from a recent loss. If that is so, sorry fopr your loss. A 5-7-5 is not an easy poem to write. good job.

It reads as spiritual poetry even if there is no actual mention of God or Jesus or was this about something else. I loved it no matter... warmly ETS
