Perfect picture to accompanies this poignant, self-sustaining write about your dear mother. The rhyme worked, the voice worked, the writing worked. Nothing I would note worthy of changing in this piece. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Hello Susie. I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom in 2007, and it seems like just yesterday. It's wonderful to see a lovely poem such as this, I can't even write about my mother's death, it was so unnecessary. But Him above wanted her home. Beautiful work Susie. Susan

Hi Susan, Thank you so much for this sweet review. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so recent. I'm sure it's still very painful for you. Just knowing I'll see my Mom again is such a comfort. Thank you again!

I sure hope I get to see all my loved ones again. I have a fear that I won't tho. My faith wanes all too often. Bless you for your kind heart Suzie. Susan

Oh, bless your heart. If they were born again, you'll see 'em again. If you're not sure if they were, just trust that they reached out for the Lord in their final moments. You can rest assured, He took hold of their hand. Don't mean to preach, just wanted to ease your mind:)

I love and identify with this piece. I particularly like the first two verses. Some of the other verses are a little sugary, but I totally understand written from the heart. I read your poem several times. Please accept these comments as complimentary.

Thank you so much! My Mom was my best friend so I'm sure some of it sounds "too good to be true", but trust me, she was just as I wrote. I'm so glad you understood. Thank you again!

You don't need to move on this is a beautiful way to remember your obviously lovely mother. This is why we write, to express our thoughts and you think a lot of your Mother.
I thought this poem was well written and it flowed well.
Good luck in the contest.
Marcii

God bless you! Thank you for understanding. I just started with Fan Story in August this year and up to then, I had gotten to the point where I only wrote a poem if someone died! It's so nice to get back to normal writing. Haha The humorous poems in my Portfolio are ones I wrote after I joined Fan Story. Thank you so much for your sweet review!

Suzie,

This was absolutely wonderfully touching! You definitely have grabbed the hearts of the reader through your words. The author notes explain the situation and the reason this piece was written. This poem is very emotionally charged, very heartfelt in every way. From the way you described her, she was a special and encouraging person, the ideal of a mother. It didn't matter what you did, she loved you for who you were.

You have smooth quatrains in abcb rhyme scheme. I enjoyed that this poem was one of thankfulness and good memories, rather than of sadness (overall). I feel that it is a good approach to the topic. I loved the whole poem, but my favorite stanza was the first:

"For a moment, Dear Lord, I'd like to refrain
From the tears I've shed at Your knee
And send up a heartfelt "Thank You"
For the angel You sent down to me"

Excellent write. Good luck in the contest. All the best, JeJo

Oh, God bless you! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and so thrilled that it gave you a glimpse of how precious my Mom was. Sometimes poetry can be exaggerated for effect, but I can honestly say there was no exaggeration in this one. She was as I said. Thank you for noticing. Thank you also for the good luck wish. I'll sure need it.

Suzie Q I found your poem truly touching and wonderfully written. I lost my Mom in '06; she was 93 and undoubtedly my best friend. I don't think we ever fully get over a loss like that, but I also reached the stage where I feel peaceful and happy she is "Home". I wrote "Homeward Bound" - and I'd love it if you'd take a look when you have a free moment. Very best of luck in the contest. I really enjoyed this tender and uplifting piece (you Mom loves it too, I'm sure). Sandy

Wow, I didn't think anyone could see this one now. Thank you so much! I lost my Mom in 1995. She was almost 67 and also my best friend. I wish I had written this before she died. Anyway, the Good Lord gave me His peace as well. I know she's with Him and I know I'll see her again. I'm so glad you could relate to it. God bless you!

Hi Suzie, This poem is so beautiful in words and message. I love all your quatrains but especially your fourth one where you speak of thanking your mother before she passed. I need to do that more often. My mother 89 and still possesses a very sharp mind and I am grateful she is still around. This is an excellent write and thank you for sharing!
All my best, Warren

Thank you Warren! Wow, it's great that your Mom is still here. Gotta say, I'm a little envious. My Mom was 66 when she passed. Thank you again for your sweet comments!
