Your pensive piece reminded me of Satchel Paige's famous comment; "don't look back, that thing maybe gaining ground." Don't know why, it just did. Liked your comments after reading the poem.

Hello and thank U, Dave. I was unaware of Satchel's comment. (but then, I'm unaware of so many things) It is a good one.

I really enjoyed this dark slice of poetry you have penned! Very well told lesson for us all - SLOW down.......no need to hurry! Flow of poem was great and made it a very nice, easy read. Chosen artwork is PERFECT!

"Come fill the cup and in the fire of spring the winter garment of repentence fling, the bird of time has but a little way to fly and lo the bird is on the wing." Slow down and you miss out on all that you could have done in the short time you have. You take the opposite view and express it really well. Play out the time line on God's fishing rod and swim in the pond a while longer. Yeah, why not?

You've scribed a most interesting poem that
reminds us how tenuous life really is. I just
have one suggestion for you to consider.

and with his [a] scythe he smiles.

This is a short line and the use of his and he seem a bit redundant.

Thanks for sharing your poem. -ray

Hi Victor...yikes I'm slowing down too. Don't want that grizzle guy in the picture to come after me! (smile) I like dark poetry now and then and this one certainly qualifies as dark. You did an exceptional job of writing this one....chey

I don't think you should slow down. The grim reaper is collecting in Chile today. I do agree we should take more notice of the things around us. joan marie

The ageless apparition waits

and with his scythe he smiles.

'Tis just his lot

to reap from us

the ones with endless hurry.
While at a party to promote a new perfume, Frederic (co-writer Jean-Loup Philippe, RAPE OF THE VAMPIRE ) recognizes the setting of one of the ad campaign photographs from a vague childhood memory involving a mysterious woman (Anne Brilland). His mother (Natalie Perry) tries to discourage his delving into the past but he is eventually lead by the ageless apparition of this woman to a crypt where he accidentally unleashes a quartet of vampire women from their tombs. As Frederic continues to pursue the mystery woman, his mother dispatches henchmen to deal with the vampire epidemic and goes to extraordinary lengths to keep the past a secret.

Thank U Sameer. I would like a quartet of vampiric women, but I would need control as well.

Wow, eerie but a great write. Even the picture is frightening. He waits calmly to reap from those who hurry. I'll be one who very slowly moves along and will stay out of his way! Very good and I enjoyed. . .Sharon

Great message is just a few short lines.
Hurry, hurry, death is nigh.

Love these lines:
'Tis just his lot

to reap from us

the ones with endless hurry.

And, yes, I am impressed with your degree. Wish I had one.
Blessings.
