Very nice lyrics, Begin Again. Your poety rhymes well and has a rhythm that does not feel forced. A good country song where the booze wins the struggle. (where he chooses the blues and the booze changes his perception. What do I know, I'm a novice who has written only one four line poem.

I had to give you a 6 for this! I couldn't stop laughing for the longest time. I love Oklahoma. I really do, But sometimes I have to shake my head! I'm sure thats true of any state. But deer hunting will start soon. Yipee! Some people around here pay more for their truck than they do for a house. My husband is a lawyer, when we first married, he said never answer the phone if it says 'county jail', beause he's the 1st lawyer in the phone book! you made my day. Thanks, Shirley

See what you started when you told me to write something fun...Now I can't stop writing these silly things. People keep saying set this to music... I didn't even know what I was writing in a song, let alone set it to music. It's been a blast to write and I am especially pleased that you loved it too. Thanks for the wonderful words and the stars too.
You have put a great big smile on my face too!!! Smiles to you, Carol

Good thing you specified BEAR...If it was BARE, that bow and arrow might hurt!! Smiles, Carol

Hey, Carol...I like this song! I can hear a raspy voiced good ole boy singing it with a silly grin on his face. The humorous (and true to life) twist at the end when he doesn't just drown his woes in booze but finds himself a perfect enabling rescuer to love instead is a neat touch. Good lyrics I hope they find themselves some music.

Well, they'd have to be searching for that good ole boy by themselves because neither my muse or I know the first thing about setting lyrics to music. Appreciate your kind and thoughtful review. CArol

Hullo Begin Again ....
Well - I have read several of the entries for this Blues Song Contest and I think this one takes some beating. You have a good theme and a pleasant rhythm.
There is nothing to suggest changing and I wish you well in the Contest.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

Rofl! What a riot-if you don't win this contest, I'm sure you'll be right up there near the top.
I'm crazy about good clean humor. Sometimes that's the only way to get through a day, and I gotta say, you made mine. Thanks for the laugh. No changes needed. Patty

Good day to you Begin Again
Ah let me see who I could envision singing your blues song
I know he's long gone Johnny Cash
It would of been a prefect song for him to sing.
Well Willy Nelson is still around he's another good
country western blue singer..
the best to you in this contest.
(:

Hi Carol,
This is funny and I enjoyed very much. I liked how everything works out in the end. I can picture this a country song - maybe you can get Brad Paisley to sing it.
One line I wasn't sure of:
Hopin' your(you're) happy, cause I (I'm)glad,

Singin' the blues, indeed!! Thanks so much for laughs this morning, Carol. I thought this lost cause was going to be drownin' in his whiskey by the end of the tune, but he done found himself a brand new love--just from bein' so mis'rably lost. What's a girl to do when a good 'rescue' challenge comes a callin'?? Why, bake a pie!!
Superb entry. Would love to hear ya sing it:). All the best in the contest,
Heather

Hello Begin Again,
It definitely is a blues song. I liked the refrain you used throughout the piece, and the fact that you ended on a hopeful note. Hope springs eternal...
