Hi Sue....this is a heart rendering poem about the loss of a marriage. I feel the pain and the pathos in the lines and also what is written between them I cannot see. If this is autobiographical then I am sorry. There is so much divorce these days and it is tragic. You wrote this extremely well....blessings....chey

I really like your rhyme scheme here with so much rhyming within the lines and then the last line of every verse rhyming. The poem flows beautifully. It is a sad poem however that speaks of having it all and having a soul mate that found the grass greener elsewhere. The story is so familiar as I have watched it happen to friends and those in my own family.

Your way with words is divine. I think you could write a poem about absolutely anything! The rhyming/rhythm is perfect and the message is heartfelt. I have a friend who is going through a divorce right now and can really relate to these words.

What a sombre and soulful write, and so true, sadly. The actions of one can be so damaging on so many. As the first line of your third stanza sums up so perfectly. It's not an easy pain to get through at all, when it's too deep to express. Beautiful write and apt tone.

Divorce can be such an ugly thing, especially for the kids. I heard once that divorces were going down, but only because people were choosing to live together instead of getting married. And actually, the odds of a couple successfully staying together for an extended period decrease when they live together outside the bonds of marriage. Ironic, isn't it?

that pervades the soul and the heart
searching for answers to what at one
time was that perfect, so mapped out
road to that love that would survive
all.
