I have never experienced this - not to say I've never felt anxious or worried, but the symptoms of this, like heart racing and hyperventilating - it must be terrifying. You describe it extremely well with well-crafted rhyming couplets.

So then, you do still love me? HA!! Flaws and all??!! Yeah, panic attacks are a surreal nightmare. Thanks for commenting on the couplets. I felt it was the best way to convey. And for your review. Always appreciated, Brooke.... :-)) Sue

Hello my friend,
I can sort of relate to this. I have PTSD (Depression) and I call it the beast. I have learned to fight it with my mind. Thanks for sharing a piece of your life... Dreamdancer

I used to call my depression "The Beast"!! But, a few years ago, when I read that Winston Churchill named his "The Black Dog", that one stuck. Sorry you have PTSD...a very difficult load to carry. And thank you for sharing that. Be well...Sue

I have my panic attacks when I ride with someone else. I almost claw my way through the roof of the car. This is a good poem about a tough topic.

You know, if I'm a passenger in a car, I cannot take my eyes off the road. Even on a long road trip, no way could I take a nap. Ha! My panic attacks can come from nowhere. Not as prevalent as they used to be. I've done my share of puffing in that bag, though. Thanks for your review. Always appreciated, Sue

Funny you should say valium. Take two every night. Sleep aid. That is one of the worst feelings. Your chest tightens up and you can't breathe. Your heart pounds in your ears. Guess I can relate, huh. Good write. I like this genre in couplets. joan marie

The ending wasn't even intended. I started out with the couplet rhyming to describe the panic disorder and remembered how breathing in the bag works a tad, but not really much. And then just slammed in that ending...what usually has to end up happening in real life.

Thanks for sharing about your own little "night cap". Ha!

Just took them. I keep the Sonata bottle out and if I take one I turn it upside down so I don't take another. I am prescribed 2 a night if I need them but the government regulates this class of drug and will only pay for 30 a month and I can't afford the other thirty. But if I sleep at least 5 hours tonite it will be the 4th night in a row without taking one. They are very strong hypnosedatives not sleeping pills and they will knock you out in about 15 minutes. jm

Love the ending to this -- I feel the same way. Nice write that gives us a glimpse of what it is to have these feelings. Enjoyed very much. Have a good night.
