What a wonderful testimony! Your trials have been more significant than mine. But you are also a better writer than me. My wife died in 2022. I thought I would also die. I spent my time from then to this year in hospitals and rehabs. I have not had a hospitalization since January. In my last rehab, I was very sick. I heard of a theater asking for submissions. I did not want to die without a legacy, so, very ill, I wrote a complete play and submitted it. Then I returned to my SLA. I researched online and found FanStory. I entered around mid-June last year.I'm not as good as you. but I'm slowly working my way to number 1000!

I don't like to know you're suffering but it's good to know you haven't given up.

What a backdrop, Sal! Your description of that drive home when your vision started going sends shivers and I was so relieved to read that you got home safely. Then, the cold shock of your diagnosis followed by (and contrasted with) the warmth and loving support of Jack. What you discovered from this crisis were elements of yourself that were awaiting fruition and purpose: your writing and your faith. When you talk about reading, it reminds me of the following Stephen King quote:
"If you want to be a writer you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot; reading is the creative center of a writer's life...you cannot hope to sweep someone else away by the force of your writing until it has been done to you."
And with you, Sal, it shows in everything you do. Well done! Take care Debbie xo

Debbie dear, thank you for the wonderful review of my true story. I appreciate your encouraging words and extraordinary kindness to me since the day you arrived on FS. I remember you gave me a six star rating for Nobody in Vietnam. I thought, Who is this? What a sweetheart you are, and an incredible poetess.
    Love and Blessings always.

Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted

A soft lyrical unknown by me, musical interlude to end your chapter here.
Suggestion: instead of me time at the Y, maybe I time at the Y, to be more poetic, not that anything is wrong as is, it was simply a thought that crossed my mind.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

The six is for being so good at what you do, but more so for having the courage to be a survivor. I always thought I was until I lost my parents and my husband within months of each other. I didn't care about anything, including my writing. Finally, because a few friends encouraged me repeatedly, I returned to FanStory, and writing has become my whole life again. I am thrilled that you never gave up, Sally. I am ashamed that I did, but grateful that God blessed me with the ability to write and the friends to bring me back. May you continue to be blessed.
Smiles and hugs, Carol
