I read the book and visited the site, as well.
It was perfectly hideous, the way the prisoners were treated.
And only one man was convicted and hung.
And then many who survived were killed in a steamboat explosion on the Mississippi River.
Here I was, broken form my state of Tennessee - (from?)

Actually I googled Andersonville and that prison came up, obviously a place of infamy, certainly to the union soldiers harboured there all those years ago, it certainly would have been the most undesirable place of residence, beautifully written Jim, well done, blessings Roy
