What we build over time will last if it's built on a firm foundation. Love is stringer each time a challenge is met. This bond matures over the years into an everlasting love.

Thank you for that.

This is so true. To truly love someone, you take all their flaws and deal with them. The couple is a good match for the poem. Very good writing. Good luck in the contest.

This 5-7-5 syllable poem is well written. I do believe that the picture is perfect and lends itself very well with the words. Thanks much for sharing and all the best for the contest.

You've captured the essence of long loving relationships in there three lines. Many people are not able to put in the time and effort to make things work and give up. I've been in a loving relationship for over 50 years with the same woman. It is definitely worth putting in the effort to make it work.

Thank you for that. Congrats on all those treasured years together.
My husband and I celebrated 50 this year too. And yet, wasn't
It just yesterday?

I heard an interview with Lee Child (the Reacher book series) and he said something similar about writing. Wait until you've lived a few decades to begin writing because then you'll have the maturity and experience that allows for a fuller narrative.
I love this about your poem: this love isn't found, it's built
That's what true love is all about. Thank you for reminding us with this beautifully presented poem.

I love the subject of your poem. Mature love is the strongest, most sincere, and enduring love. I speak as a person married well over fifty years. In that amount of time, two people become one. I agree with you that such love is built. Best wishes in the contest.

This deserves a six! Unfortunately, I don't have one...It's a lesson that all young people should learn. Love like Rome wasn't built in a day. It takes time, patience, and care to build a true love, one that can withstand what ever comes it way.
Smiles, Carol

This poem was lovely, and so was the font you chose in which to present it. You also got the syllable counts right for the writing prompt. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Oh so true. One doesn't remain married 45 years (mine) without it being tested with ups and downs... (haha I'll let that one slide). There is a lot of give and takes to make it all work.
Seriously, it's a tremendous feeling and achievement to have done so...
Cheers to many more years!

OMGosh, how does everyone seem to know it's me???
LOL, John, you are so funny and maybe you could remove that one comment from my review. If you look at the entries for this contest, there are two of them that are making it look like others are cheating. If I had seen that first I wouldn't have joined. It seems the same few just keep pointing out this crap so if you win you have to feel guilty for it. Well I refuse to feel guilty. Nobody ever learns who it is from me. LOL,, at least I don't think I do anything.
Why are some so negative all the time. Anyway that is why I need you to to erase that part please? And I will erase some of mine after you do.
Thanks Sweetie. I appreciate it.

Taken care of. Sorry sweet sis!

Oh Mystery Writer
What a beautiful poem. It is simply stated and packs a load of meaning. I've seen much longer poems of the same theme that don't say as much as your brilliant 5-7-5. Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda
