This is so true Pam. Many schools have such a lot to answer for. Teachers can be so inspiring and motivating but many aren't. I can truly relate to this poem. Thanks for sharing. Hugs. Jen.

I really enjoyed this. These extra intelligent people that go through the system when people of standard intelligence must feel like is kindergarten!
A friend of mine has a son with a high IQ and though had to go through the system as normal, he attended college at weekends learning science, it was amazing to see. But must be difficult for them when they are more intelligent that the teachers who are teaching!

Well done a different subject matter expressed in a great rhyming poem

Scholl is meant to help every child learn and broaden their minds, not just the middle stream. We tend to let the poor learners and also the genius ones to fend for themselves. If you get anything out of school, hurrah. Somehow there should be more those those who don't fit the everyday mold.
Smiles, Carol

You've crafted an interesting story about a genius child, failed by the school system. I recently saw a story on the TV news about a girl age 16, who had already completed high school, a four year college degree, and a Masters degree. She had supportive teachers and parents, but now what? She's too young to be fully immersed in an adult world. I know...she could tutor kids like the one in your poem.

I tutored kids and found it stimulating. I brought all of their grades up from Ds to As

You are so correct in what you wrote in this poem. I was a teacher, and we were ordered to teach "down" to the students on the lowest levels and just let the others coast. I refused to do that, and so had students that failed or made worse grades than the system felt they should. Such a mess!

I was that child, dropped out of high school in the 10th, joined the Air Force, got a GED certificate, went to school for Computer Operator, learned Computer Programmer on the job training, as a laborer for the Navy, performed some system Analysis and designed a conveyor data system that was adopted by the Navy command and put into use worldwide. Retired from Los Angeles County as an IT Service Rep.

I also went to computer programming school got a degree became a programmer and an analyst, and then a software engineer then a combination of software engineer and consultant. So we have similar backgrounds. Thank you for your wonderful feedback.

I'm a school drop out Pam, one does need an education when very young, although I think I've made good use of the basics which were taught when I was young. It's a moot subject, they've drifted away from the principles of God, man thinks he knows better, one can't learn the truth by education, that comes by obedience to those that know the truth, but who are they? Beautifully written, your search for truth will come Pam, blessings Roy
