I'm so sorry, I can but pray, you've written a splendid poem, with a lovely smooth flow, a perfect rhyme, and a most informative theme, I have friends that have a similar condition, dear Pam, beautifully written, blessings Roy

It has to be such a difficult thing to deal with. I suffer from Depression and panic attacks so I only have a small taste. When people ask about depression I tell them it's a bit like those shows where the people eat the hottest pepper sauces around and they run around and try everything to get rid of the pain but there is no way to outrun it or get away because it is inside them! Mental illness is like that. There is no where to go to get away from what is in your mind. thanks for sharing

Isn't it odd, that this thing we can identify, we are also powerless to control. We are standing on the railroad tracks and feel the vibrations of the oncoming train unnerving our body, we see the headlight barreling towards us and are unable to move, we hear the roar of the engine and sideline shouts to get out of the way. But we stand there nonetheless, maybe in hope, that this time, we are not on the track after all but simply standing on the platform of a depot waiting for it to pass us by.

Bravo. 9 quatrains. Reading...nice rhymes thus far! I know what depression feels. Guess it mimics a roller coaster ride to Hades. Humor helps when everything else fails. Reading... BOO'S favorite stanza -
Remission means a lot gets done.
I'm up all night and having fun.
When I'm between the lows and highs,
is when my thinking can be wise. Pretty sure I'm bipolar, no need to explain. I write when I can, between the lunatic fringes!
Nicely done!
BOO!

I adore this poem. The range between deeply saddened to ecstatic elation is very relatable to someone like me with multiple mental illness diagnoses. I love the last line "When I'm between the lows and highs is when my thinking can be wise" and offers a hopeful, tongue-in-cheek finality to a lovely piece. Keep writing!

Thank you so much for these six shiny stars and thank you for all of your wonderful comments. They both made my day.

Pamusart, WOW, you are doing the world a service, in putting out a comprehensive description of the heartaches of bi-polar. My husband's mother had a serious problem with that and his childhood was rocky sometimes. She'd go off her medication and stand in front of the church and preach.
You are exceptional, the way you reach that part in your brain that tells you exactly what it is you feel and need to express! Maddy

This is super creative and informative. You help the reader get inside the brain of a bipolar sufferer with humor, not self-pity. Very matter-of-fact with so many twists. I like the entire poem, but the 2nd stanza is my favorite. Thank you for sharing!
