I will say that I agree with you about Religion. No longer a place in government.
Not so much about border for a few reasons. About 30 miles from here we have a whole congregation of people who want it the way it was back int their country and are causing terrible havoc over it.
They got used to the handouts they were given and no longer want to work. My money doesn't last long when it is given away to unappreciative trouble makers.
What ever happened to when you come here you speak our language and abide by our laws? The rape and violence in that city is horrendous because of the border laws.
And nobody allows law enforcement do their job anymore. Here in our state, we are so terrified of some organizations that we name a street after a criminal when he dies and allow the thugs to riot and burn part of a city.
Immigration was different when our country wasn't broke and people didn't have selfish ideas of what to expect. They used to just be happy to be here and did what it took to make a good life for their family. I am not seeing that here.
My granddaughter could have been killed by a couple who are practicing the latest immigrant type of scam here where two drivers on each side of a car make the middle one smash into the other.
I did a little survey with others around the country and I am hearing the same from others. Maybe not as bad as here, but similar.
Neither candidate is any good in my book, but if I have to pick the lesser of the two evils I will have to pick the one who didn't just drag our economy to it's lowest point and now is out buying votes with my money.
Shame on America for making two such bad choices for us to pick from.
Thanks for sharing Terry!! You truly have a way of getting your audience involved. LOL.. Debi

Debi, thank you for the six stars. What you describe is terrible. I don't see how any of these politicians can fix it. Sadly, the next election will not fix it either. Terry.

Some people were not meant to talk about politics.
It makes the nice, sweet, level headed (normally)🙋♀️ person get worked up a little.
I am mostly talking one nationality in St. Cloud are almost taking over.
Sorry, but I didn't mean to do a rant on your awesome post. I agreed with a lot of what you said. Please forgive me.

Tom, thanks for reading. Do you really think the politicians think it's your money? Terry.

Answer - not a chance
Comment from Mrs. KT
Good afternoon, Terry!
I remember, a lifetime ago, getting into a bit of snit with some college friends/ folks who asked me if I was a Democrat or Republican, and I responded, "I'm a Republican; Johnson convinced me."
Now, if someone were to ask me to define my political bent today, I would say that I am a liberal-conservative... kind of like an "optimistic realist."
One thing for certain: I don't like the government - or anyone - telling me what to do or what is good for me. (No surprise, there!)
And the older I get, the less trust I have for representatives of the government. For example, Good ole Gretchen Whitmer damn near ruined Michigan's economy during the "plandemic."
Did I vote for Biden and Harris?
God, no!
Will I vote for Bide and Harris come November?
Not even if Hell freezes over!
But what strikes me as so pathetic about the current state of affairs of politics in America is that we've become a country of apologists, or worse, ostriches.
I've never been vaccinated.
I voted for Trump in 2020.
I think Hillary Clinton is evil personified along with Biden and his ineffectual laughing hyena, Harris.
If folks don't care about my opinion, be forewarned:
Don't mess with the "Big Dog!" Hah!
Much enjoyed, Terry!

Diane, thanks for the six stars. LBJ lost his way. Regan wins the cold war and those who followed, let it start again. I couldn't vote Hilliary or Trump, that was a Libertarian vote for me. I didn't want Trump for four more years, and I dang sure want either one this time. I was hoping Nikki might pull it off. We need a miracle. Terry.

So sanely and kindly presentation of the real concerns in THIS election. In most years, we have candidates who are reasonably honest, are not charged with crimes, have not declared bankruptcy to avoid paying contractors, who treat women with respect and the list goes on and on. I believe America is in trouble from which it find very difficult to recover from if TRUMP is re-elected - for two reasons- because of what he stands for and because he was able to hoodwink enough citizens to vote for him.
Ann
Great post and should be winner in the contest. ann

Ann, thank you for the six stars and your review. My story in the Rant contest doesn't matter. The contest in November does. I'm concerned, American loses either way. Terry.

I salute you, my friend! I normaly would skip over any story or poem about politics, because everyone has a different opinion and I shun from disagreeing with half of them. But I felt I owed you so I read...and I am happy that I did! You have many valid points and sound far more civilized and fair than anyone in or thinking of entering the current political ring. Everyone of them likes to point fingers and nothing ever gets done. They take their money while the average American suffers. Maybe you should run...I'll cast my vote.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I have no clue how I'm going to vote in this next election. I have some very strong opinions about some things, and I refuse to compromise on them. I doubt God would want me to. I honestly believe we don't have a reasonable candidate running. I keep praying somebody will come forward that I wouldn't be ashamed to vote for. Good luck with the contest.

I am a Jehovah's Witness, we do not vote as we believe that God will ultimately work things out in the end. We believe that God's son Jesus Christ will eventually rule over the entire earth, replacing once and for all times human governments. This no doubt will come as a surprise to people who believe in my partiality. I am not trying to convert anyone, but I do believe that my belief system, my approach to life is as valid as anyone else's. Since before and after the flood, man has made a terrible mess of things and it will not be corrected until God and his son Jesus the Christ take control and make things right. I guess you can say that this is my rant. Thank you for reading.

Nomi, thank you for the six stars. Your beliefs are as valid and important as anyone else's. There is a big difference in how you go about it. It called dignity and respect for your fellow human beings. We need more of that. Terry.

I don't do politics. I believe our congress should be rounded up and dumped far away from Washington. I think the parties , Republican, Democrat and Libertarian should be voted on like the gong show. I'll bet the big gong would have to be replaced several times before it's all over and the American public would be deaf. I enjoyed your rant. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen

Hello, dear lady. Thank for the six stars. Please feel free to round 'em and put 'em on a boat and send 'em to the deep blue sea. We got some down here, I'll try to send you. Terry.

Well, I guess you were right - you tried to piss off everyone. (smiley face here)
A reader could nitpick and argue several of your points, but I won't. Some are niggling, some issues are (in my opinion) unfixable at this point.
Hope nobody shoots you.

Wayne, thanks for reading. I've gotten old, and for the last couple of weeks, I haven't been feeling too well. If someone shoots me, it might be a blessing. Throw me on the compost pile, and I wish the rest of you all the best. Terry.

Whew! I'm glad you got all of that off your chest. I hope you really do feel better now and you aren't just saying that because it's required. I laughed at places in this rant, and I cringed in others. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Jessi, thank so much for reading and for your review. As you guessed, feeling better is a contest requirement, for some reason, I put it there a couple of years ago, and FS has kept it. That's the only reason I added the comment. Terry.
