Thoughts about turning 70.

Is 70 really old?

Nicely written. Good work.
"Of course, this idea is coming from our government." - Sorry. Credit came from banks. Remember when they used to send cards without even applying?
70 was nothing as far as doing things. What I 'have' noticed, though, is a definite change in sleep patterns - and not for the better.
Best wishes.

So sorry, but the idea behind the digital currency goes from our government, and that's where I was coming from. Thank you for the understanding.

Loved your story. And yes, retiring from retirement sounds like a good plan. I am sure I am almost as busy as previously. Re turning seventy: I felt the same. I can remember thinking it would be quite impossibly old to be fifty! Didn't figure I would ever get there. And I did - long ago! Of course. old age doesn't begin till eighty or eighty-five these days!

Edit: Age has not stopped be at all (me)
it's eaiser get into debt. (easier)
fisically responsible. (fiscally)

I have made the corrections. I appreciate the help. I didn't edit this as much as I normally do. I only read over it three times. Thank you for the understanding.

Happy Birthday again to a very YOUNG 70-year-old. I'm glad you posted this and that you continue to be productive and keep doing all that you enjoy doing. Your mom and mine were born the same year and you have a few years ahead of me so your mom started really young. And I can't believe you already have a 26-year-old grandchild! You're right that grandchildren are the best!

I found the comment by your mother relatable. My husband and I often say, "I can't believe we have a son who is 36." THAT is what makes us feel old, not our own age.

I have the same feelings about retirement - I'm busier now than I've ever been and all I want to do is write and knit. My husband has suggested I finally break down and get a housekeeper. I may take him up on that, as I've been cleaning house for over half a century.

I loved your ramblings, they're much the same as mine (except for the grandkids, which my kids tell me I will never have).

Happy birthday! That your mom has gotten to where she is bodes well for you; and if you keep going to the gym you'll get there with a body and mind that can still enjoy the things you want to do.

xo birthday girl:-)

Pam

Goodness. I feel the same way at 54. I retired and got three jobs. Eeesh!

One catch:
Age has not stopped be at all. (me)

I enjoyed this a lot. That's why I'm sixing you again. Keep on keeping on, my friend.

Happy birthday Barbara. I know I am still young but I'm terrified of the thought of turning thirty next year. I feel as though my twenties have passed in the blink of an eye. I hope your loved ones have got some celebrations planned for you.

Happy birthday!! Seventy is fabulous. I turned sixty-two in September. I don't necessarily feel old, but I do do feel tired. I'm going to SS administration in late January to talk about semi retirement. My friends say the same thing. They are busier now than before they retired. I say bring it on. I'm with you on the cash vs digital pay. Cash has limits. Credit not so much. Anyway, hope you have an absolutely awesome year. Gretchen

Thank you for the understanding. I didn't feel old until I had to go on Medicare. Then, I felt old, but I go over it.

You made me remember when I first turned seventy. I kept thinking of how things used to be and worried because my mother passed at age seventy three. I'm now over seventy three and no longer worry.

You're off to a good start. Being retired means you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. Belonging to a gym is perfect. Plus, you're a novelist and publisher, and have grands to enjoy. Life at seventy is good.

Happy Birthday and congratulations on this great milestone Barbara. And since your mother is in her 90s, I think you have a long life ahead of you. I commiserate with you about credit cards vs cash. I prefer using cash but we are definitely in the minority today.
I will be 80 this year and most days I think of it as only a number and then there are the days that I look in the mirror and wonder what happened. Haha

Well done
Blessings
Janet

Happy Birthday. Enjoyed reading your story. Since we've been in our twenties there have been many changes taking place; I so agree with you about electric cars.
