I liked reading this. It sounded like the main character/narrator was definitely trying to communicate her story/handicap well. I only had a single suggestion, since the majority of the story is broken up into smaller chunks of dialogue, that you might want to break up the longest paragraph about the camping story down into at least two parts as well with one more skeptical comment from the date.
