Just by asking that question Diana has removed herself from Santa's list. I have had absolute confidence in Santa all my life, and that's why every year I get my dearest wish. If you express doubt you lose everything. kay

Good morning, Terry,
Your posting is absolutely delightful.
Your responses to Diane were "spot on!"
I don't know you very well, but I do know that I would have been smiling had I been in the audience and listened as you shared your responses with that little girl and as you read your book to that captivated audience.
As for the snickerdoodles and hot chocolate? I might have stayed for the entire day!
Thank you for a most enjoyable read this morning.
Happy Holidays!
diane
P.S.
I have it on the authority of my grandson, Bowdie, that if you dunk said snickerdoodles into the hot chocolate the result is phenomenal!

LOL, Bowdie is right on! Diane, thank you for the six stars! I am pleased you enjoyed the story. By the way, at Bath and Body Works, you can find snickerdoodle candles that are wonderful. Terry.
-
Will check those out, Terry!
I must share with you, though it is a bit off topic, but that little "Diane" of yours reminded me of myself at that age... well, any age for that matter. But when I was HER age, I asked a very stern Dominican nun why did God allow Eve to eat that gosh-darned apple in the Garden of Eden in the first place...
Sadly, her response was not as lovingly or creatively offered: I was sentenced to a corner for the remainder of class... and I never did receive a response to my liking. (As a matter of fact, to this day, I never have!) :) :) :)
-
Oh my, now you should incorporate that into a story.
-
That sounds like a wonderful project for this winter...
That nun, and my proclivity to ask inappropriate questions, followed me all through my entire elementary education at St. Thomas Aquinas School...
Just for giggles, you might enjoy reading "Jackie Provenzano's Amazing Feat" = my first memory of St. Thomas Aquinas School ever posted on FanStory way back in 2007...but I can still see the events of that day unfold before me... Enjoy!

This is getting so exciting now, isn't it? But as an educator for forty-two years, I know for a fact that you have signed up for the toughest of all audiences at these book readings!! (The audiences for my book are the second-hardest: Senior citizens. They have the same kind of "think it/say it" approach.) You handled your situation like a pro.
You'll like this: Years ago, I had this exchange with one of my eight-year-old piano students:
Him: Was St. Nick's name "Nick?"
Me: Yes.
Him: Probably when he was a kid, his father was Santa.

LOL, maybe I'll steal that for the next book! Rachelle, thank you for the six stars, and I must agree with your analysis of the two audiences. Terry.
-
They're eerily similar...and I know for a fact that that's why I love them both so much. No beating around the bush, no guile, no malice whatsoever intended. Just honest and genuine as can be!
Oh! And you can't steal that for the next book, because I already have it in a book of mine entitled "Even More Noteworthy Quotes." (It's Volue III. Volume I is "Noteworthy Quotes," Volume II is "More Noteworthy Quotes." Their subtitles are "100 of the Best One-Liners by the Beloved Music Students of Shelley Allen." I've never 'published' them, but I have them professionally printed and distribute them at Recitals every five years. I had the idea to start it at Year 20. They include such gems as:
Me: Do you know where the G is?
Student: I know where ALL the G's is. HEY! I just said 'Jesus!'
and
(age 6) I wrote a song this week called "Ode to Joy's Brother."
and finally...
(age 8)
An octave is as far as I can almost reach.
Keep a notebook, yourself, at these book readings, Terry. You will NOT want to forget the gems these cuties say! xoxo

LOL, excellent, and very fun.

Congratulations on this entire experience, Terry!
I thought you handled the little girl quite well, and the paragraph you wrote about where Santa changes as we grow older is, in reality, so true and well explained. Super cool, my friend! Best, JohnC

Terry, congratulations on your book release! It's hard to put it out there, I know. Understand, some critics are never pleased. They hate everyone's writing. One of the best books I had ever read had a three star review from someone. Don't let them steal your Christmas joy and the happiness your book will give to many for years to come. You'll prove the naysayers wrong, I guarantee it.
Sending you my best today as always, and blessings for your book.

Such a sweet story! It's a unique dive into Santa's "backstory." Your video poses interesting questions! Great idea.
This was an enjoyable read.
Maybe a missed word here
Twenty five minutes top and then I'm out (of)here.

I can remember when my parents told me Santa wasn't real, I think I was around nine or ten, and I was devastated at the time. A well written piece, it is tough putting our work out there, but sadly, not everyone will enjoy it. I thought your writing flowed well and I enjoyed reading it.

I can tell from your response to that little mischief-maker that your book is going to be a winner! You've got what it takes to enchant children I've no doubt about that. You're also remarkably brave because there's a lot of competition out there. Well done, Terry, and good luck! Debbie

Wow! Terry, I"m impressed. I'm sure many on this site know you much better than I, but you aren't someone I pictured writing a book about Santa Claus are reading stories to children. I sure most parents could have warned you to be prepared for that question. My mom used to tell me he was a myth but told I could find out what a myth was when I was old enough to spell and look it up in the dictionary. Congratulation on getting the book. It sounds like you handled your assignment well.
