This is a completely heart wrenching account of your childhood, Leah, and that despicable man who became your step-father. The detail of his abuse is horrendous and that image of your world narrowing to the end of his fist is so vivid and palpable that it can't help but fill your reader with anger and contempt. Your escape was out of sheer desperation and yet, with the risk you took, it placed you between the devil and the deep blue sea. You had no choice but to return home to the very monster who had driven you out in the first place. There's something here reminding me of "Stockholm Syndrome" where the child victim becomes inextricably dependent on her abuser. I think you must keep on writing, Leah, until these memories lose some of their force and trauma.A further proof read would help to pick up some small edits. Take care and good luck! Debbie
