This deserves a six. Well done, Diane, well done.
You used all the things that makes Halloween fun for everyone. I love black cats and I think they get misunderstood because of Halloween. I have a Tuxedo cat named Finley. He doesn't like Halloween. Wonder why? LOL Nancy:)

Hello, Nancy!
So pleased you enjoyed.
This poem was so much fun to attempt and create!
Thank you for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
Poor little black cats. I love them all, but they do seem to garner misunderstandings this time of year!
Thank you!

Isn't this such a fun time of year? (When I told a five-year-old student of mine that I loved Halloween, her response, with a bit of a scornful tone, was, "Well, of course YOU like Halloween....that's 'cause you're always wearing COSTUMES!!") Nonetheless, I love your poem, and I know that someday, when they're older, so will Bowdie, Porter and Jude. Good luck in the contest!!

Hello, Rachelle!
I so enjoyed penning this piece - even if, in a few places, the meter is a bit wacky. But like my husband said, "Your witch is wacky, too!"
Thank you!

LOL, I love this poem! The artwork you choose goes great with the poem. I think you should see if you could find a place for this to get a larger audience. This would be a great addition to newspapers everywhere if it be syndicated somehow. Outstanding. Terry.

Thank you ever so much, Terry, for your exceptional rating and complimentary review.
After your "Write a Review" contest, I started thinking that perhaps I could actually pen a Halloween poem about black cats and pumpkins.
Then I started searching for artwork, and I was amazed at how many vintage Halloween cards displayed black cats and pumpkins riding along on a broomstick with a witch! An idea was born, and I went with it!
I love the animated artwork of the glowing moon, cat, and pumpkins. How folks can come up with that kind of artwork is impressive!
So very pleased you enjoyed!
Thank you!

This is fun and a little bit scary. All the things that make a children's poem come alive!
I love the twist at the end where you are the witch albeit a fun one with no ill intentions for children everywhere!
I love the moving picture with the moon shining down and the firelight flickering inside the pumpkin.
Good luck with the contest!

Good morning, Jesse!
I had so much fun writing this Halloween poem! Perhaps too much fun as that "moving picture" really captivates me whenever I look at it!
And believe me, I've looked at it a great deal!
I just added a few Author's notes explaining where in the world my mind was going when I penned this piece. I love vintage holiday cards, and the inspiration for this Halloween poem came from studying the card that is the top photograph and wondering why the artist placed a black cat at one end of the witch's broom and a pumpkin at its other end!
Thank you for your exceptional rating and complimentary review!
Here's to Halloween and a new week ahead!
Watch the sky!
I may fly by!
Thank you!

Hello Diane!
Vintage holiday cards, hmm I never thought to study them closely for inspiration yet you have found a winner!
I'll bet Bowdie and Jude will love for you to read them this poem when it's Halloween!
Seeing you as a witch flying by makes me laugh out loud!
You are one of the most kind and considerate people I know!
Enjoy your Sunday!

Thank you, Jesse!
So incredibly cold and rainy here today!
Perfect Halloween weather!
Going to hop on my broom and go grocery shopping! Hoping to prepare a magic feast in my cauldron! :) :) :)

I am so glad you are having fun with this post!
It is getting cold today with lots of fog!
Ride that broom to the moon!

Hah!

This is an excellent trimetric abab rhymed celebration of Halloween and just in time for this particular festival. Your skill is pretty sublime, and your adaptability is without question, you can turn your hand to any form, well done, blessings Roy

What a thoughtful and complimentary review, Roy!
I was just thinking the other day how much I love to explore different formats. I don't always reach the mark, but I do try, and I surely enjoy the attempt and challenges!
Thank you ever so much!

Very unique. Well done.
And good, natural rhyming.
This business of flying pumpkins and black cats is new to me. Did you invent the phenomenon?
Good luck in the contest.

Good morning, Wayne,
I believe I'm the inventor/creator of this Halloween phenomenon!
Written to share with my grandsons, but they are a bit young at the moment.
I have no idea where or how or why I originated this idea, but once I started writing, it took on a life of its own.
So pleased you enjoyed!
Thank you!

You've given us a wonderful presentation for your Halloween poem, Diane. I love all the pictures; they remind me of a postcard or greeting card. The poem itself is full of fun spells and Halloween mystery.
Great entry - good luck!

This poem, Old Black Cats and Pumpkins, presented with ten ABCB-rhymed quatrains, pulls the readers into the mood and mindset that is proper to appreciate the season. Neat.

This is a wonderful verse filled with Halloween magic and perfect for children as well as adults as it's not too scary. Your verse has a flowing, musical feel and the presentation is beautiful and eye-catching. Love your sly admission at the end which neatly rounds off the poem. Good luck in the contest, Diane! Take care, Debbie
