Barry this is a very creative story that evokes great emotion and imagery with the use of a telephone diary. Even though you didn't say it, you didn't have to, I could see a smile on the face of the son. Well done. Terry.

Just like I said in my Four line poem
Memories are so important.
Yes, one memory often evokes many more.
I love the whole notion of an old address book.
I could visualize it.

This is a good piece of flash fiction. I like the twist ending but even more the warm familial intimacy that was conveyed. You really brought these people to life in a meaningful way. Good work!

That's a good one, Barry. Very good idea with that twist at the end. I thought sure we were going to hear the reading of the will. It looks like we are competitors in the contest.

Thanks for the review Paul. All the best for the competition. Perhaps tied first would be a suitable result lol. Hope you are well and make sure to take care and have a wonderful day.

This is pretty interesting. I was surprised at the ending, that it was a 'telephone diary' rather than a small photo album. You did a good job of describing all kinds of possibilities: relatives, co-worker or favorite mechanic, etc. I would capitalize Dad where it says "dad's former business partner." And also here: "Along with dad, they were a motley crew good at their job."

This is beautiful, a bit sad though but happy too.
Memories are such an important part of our daily lives and it's great to see you bring that topic into the light rather than it being sad. Memories are such a beautiful thing.
