To be able to not only remember a tale or poem that brought you pleasure as a child, to be able to pass on the treasure to a child of your own has to be a particular pleasure and a blessing. Hopefully the opportunity to keep the tradition alive and ongoing will present itself to your child.

Thanks for the review, Nolan. I am expecting my first great grandchild in a few months. Rest assured, the tradition will be continued.

This is just beautiful, a touching tribute to your father, and your rhyme scheme is perfect. The only thing that brought my stars down a peg was your accompanying artwork; you made a point in your poem to describe both you own curly head and the golden locks of your son, so I think I would have tried to find another piece. Either way, this was a winner today. Great work, and Happy Father's Day!

Thanks, Laurie. I was disappointed in the picture as well, but I could not find anything to fit the bill.

But you won anyway! Darn you! Haha, I had one in that contest, too! Congrats.

Thanks, Laurie. I tried really hard to find the right picture, but no luck.

A very nice poem about a father and son spending time together
reading and listening to a poem, which has become a memory.
I enjoyed the rhyming in this poem and that this special time with
dad has been passed down and repeated with the next generation.

My dad is gone, too. I miss him. I loved this poem of you sitting on your dad's knee begging for the same story again. And being the good dad he was, he read it again. Lol. Now you are dong it with yours. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

This was a beautiful poem in remembrance of your father. I hope we all get to experience a special moment like this with any type of father figure if you do not have one in your life. Thank you so much for sharing! ~Janel

That moved me to tears. It's such a great poem commemorating Father's Day and your memories of your father. My both parents are l ong gone, and I know what you mean when you say you'd give up a lot to have your father read that to you again. They are always with us in spirit and are watching over us.
Excellent imagery and rhyming. Thank you for sharing this.

An excellent write of wonderful moments spent with a loving dad. The poem touches the memories of all who may have had a parent who took the time to read to them. An emotional read in which one can feel the love between parent and child. Great work.

You touch my heart. My dad used to hold me on his knee and sing the song "Sonny Boy." That was more than 75 years ago and I still remember the warm feeling.
